Loose skin???!!?!?!?!

Recommended Posts

I've got some extra skin, Im still hoping it will eventually go away! Basically right now, its turning my stretch marks which used to look like a map into a 3-D map with mountain ranges and valleys!!! it isnt the look i was going fo, but i guess it adds character!

Glad I found this thread, this was something I was wondering/worried about. I'm not banded, btw, just here (so far) to do my research -- and motivation from you guys!

Between September '05 and March '06, I went from 275lbs to about 225lbs (diet and serious exercise) and didn't have any issues with skin sagging. The only problem I had was my boobs, which have never been cute or perky, and figured I'd eventually like to have them done regardless. Now that I'm considering banding, I'm at about 350lbs, my heaviest ever, and I'm really concerned about needing nips and tucks once I reach my goal weight :tongue2:

I have the same concerns. It's kind of a toss up regarding my skin. My dad is Puerto Rican, and has amazing skin elasticity. My mom, who is white white, has hardly any skin elasticity. So if I'm lucky, I'll get my dad's skin. I have his eyes and hair, and pretty much everything else so I'm hoping I luck out and got that too. Just to be safe, as soon as I get a part time job here, I'm gonna put $10 a day away for a Tummy Tuck. And if I don't need one, then I'll just have a decent down payment on a new car

I hear that! Here's to hoping you come out with a new car!

My parents are both hispanic and are in their 40-50s and don't look a day over 35. I'm also hoping I inherited their 'skin' genes, my dad more than my mom bc he lost 40-60 pounds and doesn't have any loose skin.

I ended up with MASSIVE amounts of extra skin on my tummy...but that is where I carried all of my weight. My lap band doc told me before I even was banded that if I lost all my excess weight I would DEFINETLY need PS. Well...he didn't lie. I am going in for my extensive TT with vertical incision just so that they can remove all the skin. My PS said it would take about 6 hours and she is hoping to remove almost 15 pounds of skin. I think a lot of it has to do with how you carry your weight, genetics, and how long you have been fat. For me...all in my tummy, don't know about genetics(both my parents were/are fat), I was fat for 20 years...didn't have a whole lot going for me. Plus I did lose my weight really fast so that might have something to do with it. However I did exercise and tone regularly...didn't help the tummy though. However I wouldn't trade my Jabba-the-Hut look for the 96 pounds that I lost!

I have lost 170lbs and followed all the suggested guidelines to prevent excess skin. However, I have a bit. Excess skin is just like the weight loss itself...different for everyone.

I actually have a consult with a plastic surgent next friday. After maintaining this weight for about a year now, I am ready to take the next step.

I say stay focused on your weight loss and fitness and worry about crossing that brodge when you get there.

I've heard that drinking lots of Water, strength training, regular massages, and a slow, gradual weight loss help prevent the flabby flab flab.

I wish that I could tell you that was true. But in all honesty...it has WAY more to do with genetics, how much weight you started with, where you carried your weight and how much yo-yo dieting you have done (this wears out the elastic fibers in your skin). Now all of what you said is definetly not going to hurt you. It may help some, but if you are like me...there was no way all the flab was going away without the hands of my WONDERFUL surgeon.

my husband assures me that my 24 year old body will look normal but i know my lower tummy pouch wont go back, expecially after baby, so my plan is to get banded, loose the weight and in 3 years have my 2nd baby , loose that baby weight, and THEN get a Tummy Tuck maybe a boob lift if i need it, but i wont go under the knife for ps till i am done having children, it woudl be pointless...

Hey Redtulip,

I took have been successful with low carbing. But I just wondering, is there anything else you allow yourself to eat besides meats, eggs and veggies. Whats your typical day like as far as meals? Just trying to get some ideas. Thanks!

Everyone is different, but I don't have good news! I was optimistic because my mom was back to a taught size 0 after having 2 kids..

But, I have been overweight my entire life, and my stomach was huge. Now that I've lost weight, I have hanging flabby skin on my thighs and upper arms.. and my stomach looks like a deflated bread loaf. It's all puckered and gross. It's better than bein fat though!

And I'm hopeful one day I'll get a TT.

Yeah I'm so glad this is here! It's nice to know that extra skin happens to us younger folks, because at least now I'm prepared for it. I have a big tummy so I'm expecting some loose skin, especially in the lower tummy. But I love working out and will follow every tip to the T!

Repeat question though - did anyone get any info about the silicon supplements? I have fine hair anyway so it'd be good to start those supplements before I get banded and prepare my skin... I'll ask my doc when I go in for my monthly visit, but just thought I'd ask again on here.

But man - I'd rather have some saggy skin and be able to fit into a rollercoaster seat comfortably!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
