I love salads, obviously I skip the dressing when eating out. At home I have fat free 20 cal per 2 tbsp dressing and love it.

I was banded 12/20/07 & just started salads yesterday. They were fine. With Protein of course. On one form from the doctor's office it says at about 3 weeks out you can add salad stuff; but, another sheet from the bariatric clinic at the hospital where I had it done, said not until 8 weeks out. Never thought I'd be craving a salad of all things !

Good luck!

I eat salads but did have a problem the first time I tried. I didn't chew some lettuce well enough and it got stuck. So, just chew really well and you'll probably be fine.

Chew and chew and chew, but yes, salads are fine. I eat them almost every day.

Also, beware of veggies with skins, like tomatos and cucumbers. Those give me troubles and I've had to limit them in the salads I have to get them through the band.

No problem with salads. I even had a wrap from Subway last night with baby spinach, tomatoes, olives, jalapeños, and pickles.

I have heard of people with good restriction having a hard time getting it to go down. But there's no restriction as far as dietary.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
