Unjury Protein Powder

Recommended Posts

I ordered the unjury samples and have tried the strawberry sorbet (YUCK), the vanilla (YUCK) and the chocolate (LOVE IT). I have not hada chance to try the chicken Soup or the unflavored. I figured I would try them out before liquids. I have to be on 2 weeks of liquid before the surgery, so I want to go ahead and find something I can tolerate. (Not to mention the liquid diet after banding.

The chocolate was good to me.

I will give my vote on the others once I try them.

I tried the new zioc shakes the belgium chocolate it was so nasty, I took it to a support group meeting b/c we where doing taste test anyway on protien shakes so I brought the 3 I had left and NO ONE liked it. They as pretty expensive so I thought I would let everyone try them before they spent money on something nasty.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to use either one of them?

I'm working to get my BMI down before surgery and my surgeon recommended Unjury to me for its taste. My mornings start with an iced soy latte from Starbucks with unflavored powder. The powder did not change the flavor of the drink. Perhaps the soy milk makes the difference. I also use the chocolate flavored powder with 1% milk, as I'm working my way down to skim/fat-free milk. Unjury's is the best chocolate Protein Powder mix I've tried.

Unjury is the ONLY Protein powder that I can tolerate. I LOVE the chocolate...tastes like chocolate milk to me. I LOVE the vanilla...I mix it with a little pudding mix to thicken it up, I mix it with Decaf coffee, and I even just add cinnamon to it and it tastes good to me. Hope everyone has good luck in finding the right protein for them. It took me a while but Unjury seems to be the one for me. :)

I just bought Unjury (unflavored and van.) and it tastes terrible. I used the unflavored in sf pudding (as per directions from Unjury) and all I could taste is the powder...yuck! This morning I had a van. shake with skim milk and the taste and after taste were horrible. Since I spent so much money on them I hate to throw them out...I actually bought 2 containers of unflavored. Anyone have any suggestions on how to use either one of them?
I actually use this product sometimes. I mix it in a blender with skim milk and a cup and a half of frozen strawberries also a couple of sweetnlows. It comes to 280 calaries and I think it taste great. It stops my cravings for sweets. I also use the Bariatric Advantage shake the same way. It is more calories but has vitiamins in it too. I like it in the morning when I am feeling tight and I dont feel hungry for 4 hours. Of course you could put in any fruit you like. The frozen ones make it thicker like a milk shake. I hope this works for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
