What is everyone eating on a typical day?

Salsa, thank you for the lovely message. You are such a sweet person -- and I am really glad you post here!

Thank you for reminding me that I do need to take in a few extra calories with all of the working out I have been doing lately. That is an excellent point and I often tend to forget that.

Becky, LOL regarding your comment about Pasta. According to my Italian relatives, that is not just an opinion -- that is an absolute fact!

Thanks to both of you for the encouragement!!!

I'm no pro that's for sure... but this is what I do and I am losing about 1-2 pounds per week... My one issue is liquid vs. food.

Pre-Breakfast: glass of Water and morning coffee

BREAKFAST: 3 Jenie-O turkey sausage patties - or -

2 Jenie-O turkey sausage patties & 1 egg

Liquid: Special K Protein Water

Lunch: hard boiled egg, 1/2 cup tuna salad with pickles and lettuce wraps

Liquid: water / crystal light

Dinner: 3 oz meat, 1 cup salad (if I can eat that much)

Dessert: sugar free popsicle

Hmmm... perhaps I'm a big piggy here. It seems I eat more than everyone else. A Protein shake does nothing for me (I'm hungry again in an hour)... Here's my meals for one day:

B: 1/2 Breakfast burrito (huge)

L: Lean Cusine

D: salad plate w/ meat, potatoes & veggie

Dessert & Snacks: 100 calories packs of anything and/or yogurt. I have about 2 dessert/snacks per day.

So how many calories do you think you are eating a day? I don't think you are a piggy, but you have to look at the calories. I know it is a big pain in the butt, however, this is not going to work if we don't reduce our calories. It is certainly not an exact science on how many calories one should eat, but it does have to be less than what you work off. I saw your post on the other thread and you said that you have only lost 10 pounds. Are you exercising? Are you getting your Water? It looks like your carb/protein ratio might not be optimal. I am not one for giving up any food group (though you are taking to the queen of Taliban Atkins!) but what is in the breakfast burrito? We would love to help you out. This is a great group of people and we are very supportive. Feel free to join us on the exercise thread as we can really get people motivated there. Something has to be happening to cause you to only have lost 10 pounds, but the more information we have the more that we can help you. I don't know if you have posted here before or not...I post on two boards and I don't always remember those that don't post often:confused_smile:. But if you are new or newer WELCOME!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
