jaycee 0 Posted January 11, 2008 I'm scheduled for surgery on the 30th of Jan. How long were you off from work? I've read on this site some have gone back to work in a week. Is that average?
reif78 0 Posted January 12, 2008 it depends on what kind of job you have if you have a light job like a desk job you can go back to work between 1 -2 weeks unlike me who has a heavy lifting and strenuois job i was given off six weeks.

jmschnapf 0 Posted January 12, 2008 I have read were several people went back within a week. I have a desk job, had surgery on Thursday and went back to work Monday. Each person is different. As you surgeon what he thinks.
TangerineDreams 0 Posted January 12, 2008 Jeez ... my surgery date is set for a Tuesday .. I plan on being back at my desk the following Monday ... I hope I make it. But I guess it really does depend on the type of work you do.

beckio 0 Posted January 12, 2008 I was off for 10 days, but only because I had already put in vacation time for Christmas and my surgery was the 18th. I would have went back much sooner if it didn't fall into place the way it did. My dr told me I had NO restrictions as far as lifting and exercising from day 1, I was suprised to hear him say that, but I was glad too! I could have gone back to work on day 3 if I had to and I work a very physical job.

SuzanneG 1 Posted January 12, 2008 I had surgery on Friday 1/4/08 and told my boss I was going to try to be back on Monday since I have a friend who is close to my age and size. We have the same doctor, same hospital, she went back the following Monday and I missed an entire week! I was so dissappointed, but you just have to follow your body. Tell your boss you need at least a week and just go back sooner if you feel up to it and you have that flexibility.
allheart 0 Posted January 13, 2008 I was banded on 12/21 and am off for 5 weeks. I also had a hernia repair when they did the banding do this may make a difference. I lifted my school bag last week and was in pain for 2 days so the doc said not to go back until 1/28. I know this is longer that most people but I'm thankful for the time - I'm reading as much as I can get my hands on about life after banding and processing/putting in place the lifestyle changes that I need to make this successful. As you surgeon what he thinks. Hey Jodie, I am planning on doing the same thing (surgery Thursday-back to work Monday). What was it like for you going back so soon? I am worried about it, but I do not have much choice as I don't want to be off a week without pay. I don't have much time off right now (used a lot during the holidays) and I don't want to wait a few months to build up time, so I'm hoping I'll be alright going back so soon. :welldoneclap:

Ms.BearKat11 0 Posted January 14, 2008 I thought I would be able to go back to work tomorrow (Monday) after having surgery on Friday, but I can tell that I'm just not ready for it. I'm still in a lot of pain, and even though I have a desk job, I don't need to be sitting down all day, I need to be up walking around. I plan on calling in the morning and returning on Tuesday. mia31771 0 Posted January 14, 2008 My surgery is scheduled for thursday 01-17 and I plan on being back at work the following monday. I have a desk job and actually live on the farm where I work so I'm sure if I need to go lay down for a bit it will be fine. At least I'm hoping I feel up to it. My dr. seems to think I should be fine to do this, although I am really seeing alot of ppl who took more time.
