2 surgeries at same time?Anyone else have tubes tied w/band?

Recommended Posts

Good news is my mom is finally starting to get it. She agreed that if I could have my tubes tied while I have the band done that it would be worth it. I am 36 & have my boy & girl so I am done w/ having kids. Has anyone else had both surgeries done together? I am scared of what that recovery would be like, but my gyn said they could coordinate the surgery with my surgeon. At least my mom has finally agreed to help me with the kids. I am planning to have the surgery done before March 1st so I feel good enough to go to Disney World w/ my kids on spring break the last weekend in March.

I dont think it should cause any delay in your recovery, 2 procedures done, 1 operation. right on. I had my tubes tied 24 years ago, same procedure. I asked my Doc. if things have improved since than and it has. good luck

I should have had my tubes tied--darn it!

I had a hiatal hernia repaired that actually required 2 surgical procedures at the same time as I had the lap band replaced.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
