I just want to thank everyone and this board. Its so great. I've been watching the board for a few months now and i feel so educated on the band and have decided to go through with it. but I have a question more of what everyone thinks.6 years ago I had a seizure. I've never had one before and haven't had one since. I had been taking diet pills at the time. I told the doctor that and he didn't seem concerned about writing that down. I did all test and everything came back fine.I attended a seminar and got my paper work for the lap band. of course they ask about medical history. I thought about not teling him I had a seizure, but it will show up on paper work from the doctors anyways. would my lap band surgeon tell me no to getting the band? would insurence still cover it? I hate knowing that a doctor who didnt take notes to say I was on diet pills mess up my chance of having a great future.I also had two back operations more serious than the lap band with them collopsing my lungs also for the operation and I never had a problem.

I thought I had heard that medically, if you haven't had a seizure within the past 5 years, that it was a non-issue. I'm not positive, but I could swear that's what I've heard.

I hope so :/ I know That I can't get insurence only if through a job because they consider me a risk still. even though thats been 6 years and its been 10 years for my back operations.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
