I am SO ANGRY!!!

Recommended Posts

I have only told my husband and my immediate family about my surgery, and they don't live anywhere near me.... So this didn't come from anyone I know.

I received a letter from a local doctor offering a special to do lipo-suction, tummy tucks and boob lifts. It mentioned helping post surgery patients. I have never heard of this doctor, and did not request this information. I know this is not a coinciedence. I have to think that someone from the hospital or my doctor's office has "sold" my medical information. There is no other explanation for this. Is this legal????

im not sure maybe its not that anyone sold your information sometimes when companies go to drs offices they leave pamphlets for bypass and banding patients and then the doctors office just sends them out to there bypass and banding patients to give you the information that you can look at i know i get infomation on stuff like that all the time and its either because of a medication im on and there is a better medication than the one im taking thats new that maybe i would like to try i dont think it has to do with anything that the drs office sold your info and if they did its not legal so talk to your doctor about it.

I had a similiar experience. I was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis in my hometown and I received information from a doctor in the town I go to to school at for IC help. I was stunned. How do they know all of this? Somehow lifelock.com seems so much better now.

Hmmmm. I have worked for dr offices before and we never sent out info to our patients that was brought to our office by drug reps, other doctors, etc. In fact I worked in infertility and we marketed our office by taking info and leaving it with other OBgyns for their waiting rooms, etc. NEVER was it mailed out in some bulk mailing by the obgyn to all "nonpregnant" or "infertile" patients. I would call the doctor that the pamphlet came from and find out how they got your info and who they are, then I would call your doc and ask if they know the doc that sent you the pamphlet. You can probably go to the consumer protection agency, file a report and request an investigation. It sounds to me like there is some sharing of info going on. You might also check HIPPA.

You could call the company that sent you the letter and ask them how they got your info. I think there is some requirement for them to tell you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
