20grams of protein in 1/2 a sandwich

Recommended Posts

today for lunch i tried something different for lunch. i had 2oz of white chicken in a can with Water (valley fresh white chicken in water) it has 1g of fat,15g of Protein and 70 calories and i added 1 tsp of light miracle whip(20 calories, 1.5 g of fat,) and put it on one slice of weight watchers rye bread (55 calories, 5 grams of protein, and 1 gram of fat) i like the weight watchers wheat bread better though. so all together there is 20 grams of protein and 145 calories and 3.5 grams of fat. after eating this i am full but if this isnt enough you could add some veg or fruit or something low calorie. i probably wont eat this everyday because i dont want to eat bread all of the time but its a nice change

andrea

i have to correct something. the bread has 5 grams of protein if you eat two slices im sorry but it still has 2.5 grams of protein which is better than none. is there any bread out there with more protein? if so let me know but im trying to count calories and fat also.

I'm almost 8 weeks out and I haven't tried bread yet. I'm scared to. Everyone on here talks about how bad it hurts for bread to get stuck, so I'm afraid to try.....

Aubrie, I had surgery 4 days before you. I've had one fill. If you don't have good restriction (the sweet spot), then I don't see why bread is a problem...at least it hasn't been for me. I don't make a habit of eating it regularly, though. One time I had half of a cinnamon roll (doughy bread) and another time I had one half of an english muffin. Just chew really well and start with little tiny swallows until you know how your body can tolerate it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
