Getting banded tomorrow

Recommended Posts

Well tomorrow is the day!!

I am so excited and nervous, I have followed my pre-op diet 100%, but I am so worried.

I know this is the right thing to do...I just wish I could fast forward to about three months in the future!!!

Hi...I am getting banded tomorrow too I am so hungry right now. I have been on a 48 hour, clear liquid only diet since Monday night (broth, Jello, apple juice, etc.) I am pretty excited right now, but know by the morning my nerves will kick in. A fast forward 3 months sounds nice about now!

GOOD LUCK! I'll be thinking about ya tomorrow, I go on Jan 16th.

I've sure learned something on this 10-day LowCarb liquid diet, seems like the weight is melting off of me. I'm barely taking any medicine for diabetes because my bloodsugar is almost normal, haven't seen that for years.

Jan 16th will be banded by Dr. Cook at Frye Medical in North Carolina

Good luck all, my date is 15th. So excited, not nervous yet. My surgery was booked within 2 weeks of my first appointment with the surgeon, so I haven't had the chance to be nervous!

Good luck,

Jen

Hi Char...I am getting my surgery in Atlanta, at Dekalb Medical Center. I have to be there at 8am for a 10am surgery. I just took a long, hot bath to get my mind of the blinding hunger. It definitely worked! Now I am doing the full on beauty treatments....mask, mani, pedi., scrubs....anything until I fall asleep!

Good luck! Catch up w/ you Friday!

Best of luck to you!

I love the idea of 'spoiling' yourself the night before!

We are pretty close in weightloss goals, we should keep in touch.

It's going to be good! If you're feeling nervous at all, don't be afraid to tell your doc. They are used to that and will fix you right up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
