Songinmysoul1 0 Posted January 9, 2008 Yes, I did just have surgery last Friday, but crud I have been on liquids all of this time, and have only lost 2 pounds. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't noticed the rest of the folks here seems to loose quicker? Not only that but, my absorbable sutures are itching like crazy! Not so down, and out in Hemet :cry

Chrisann 0 Posted January 9, 2008 I decided not to get on the scale until my next doctor visit. I know the first month out from surgery is about healing, not losing. I want to stay psyched so I figure looking at the scale might aggravate me too much. But, don't forget, you are bloated from the surgery, between the gas and being swollen, so its not horrendous that you lost 2 pounds. When I saw the doctor 2 days after surgery because I had complications, I actually gained back 4 pounds because of the bloat. Then when I had another visit with my regular doctor to check out the stitches cause my surgery doc is on vacation, I was back down to surgery day weight. kacee 3 Posted January 9, 2008 Yeah, that itching is a bugger. I had to remember not to absent-mindedly start scratching! It'll pass. Don't worry about losing right now.
Songinmysoul1 0 Posted January 10, 2008 Thanks for the encouragement! A friend of mine pointed out that it could pe post-op swelling or even my body slamming on the breaks, because of the fasting calories after eating so many calories before? Once again though, thanks! mamato3 1 Posted January 10, 2008 I just had surgery on Monday, but I am up about 6 pounds from what I was prior to surgery. I know it is from the IV fluids, swelling, bloating etc. I am trying not to worry too much about it. I just keep reminding myself this is a lifetime committment. I have plenty of time to watch the numbers go down!
aussie jedi 0 Posted January 10, 2008 Yeah the scars do itch a bit, try not to scratch them. I also had a clear waterproof dressing over the top of my steri strips(opsite/tegaderm type) that I had a mild allergy to, and all around where the adhesive touched the skin it went red, swollen and then the skin peeled off. And that was really itchy - and I scratched at it - now paying the price - the skin is still red and peeling more than 3 weeks post op. Looks worse that the actual scar site. The one wound that I couldnt see or reach easily, that I didnt scratch, looks great, you really have to look hard to see there was ever a cut there.
Dave01 0 Posted January 10, 2008 If you lose any weight now, consider that a bunus. Now is the time for healing, letting the band "nest" in place and getting ready for your life change. I walked as much as my body would let me and followed my dr's orders to a "t". The loss will come soon enough. Some lose quicker than others, so try to not compare yourself with them. My neighbor had his band a week before me and is now down 47 lbs and still compares his loss to mine. But i never see him out walking and wonder what Domino's delivers that is band friendly...LOL
