NSV's for the Merry Losers

Recommended Posts

Let's have our very own Non-scale Victories thread!

My first one: I can do up the seat belts on the bus into work in the morning!! I work on a mine site and we get bussed from camp to site, and HAVE to wear seat belts (safety regs). The driver comes by to check before taking off and up till now, I've had to hide the fact that I couldn't quite click the buckle in. It's always been so embarrassing having anyone see me struggle and then have to hide my failure from the bus driver. This week, it was tight, but it did up every time!! YAY!

I made goal in the swimming pool last night! I've been working my way up to do 1km, which is not easy in a little pool. It takes 50 laps of the camp site's 20m pool. The first night, I did 10, 2nd night 20, 3rd night 30 and last night I went for broke and did all 50! I was tired at the end but felt so good!

I noticed today at work that I kept needing to pull up my size 48 jeans. I also think I need a new smaller belt. It was pretty funny to walk around the office and keep pulling my pants up.

I Ran Today!!!!

I didn't run far but I ran. It was so very awesome. I walk in the gym every day at lunch and today because I wasn't puffing nearly hard enough :) I ran the short ends. I made 5 laps running the short ends, walked 5 more, then ran 5 more. Before long I want to be jogging a lap and then walking a lap. That's my goal for the month exercise wise.

I love my band!!!!

Tried on size 20w pants and they fit. Down from a 26w! Also noticed that my diamond tennis Bracelet is dangling a half inch on my wrist! Never thought about loosing it there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
