Fisrt fill tomorrow - big question...

Recommended Posts

I cannot find anywhere in my paperwork where it says not to eat the day of or before my first fill. Does anyone know how many hours before my appt I should not eat anything? And am I allowed liquids prior?

My appt is at 1:45, I planned on an early Breakfast (eggs & cheese at 7:00 am) and a mid-morning protien shake. Is this reasonable or should I plan on not having anything?

most dr recommends Clear Liquids 8 hours before a fill- so I would say do not eat anything morning of your fill-dr should have given you guidelines-you do not want to have anything in your pouch or you will not get an accurate fill-they do Water test after they fill you to make sure it is going down ok-if you are hungry a Protein Shake should be ok-but again you may want to call your doc as every doc is different

I was never told what to eat or not eat before a fill. I don't think it matters one way or another. My doctor makes us go on clear liquids for three days after a fill, so when I go in I make sure I have an adequate meal because I'm not going to eat again for a long time! If you want to make sure, call the office and clarify.

I am off to work, I will call the Dr as soon as I get a chance this morning to see what I should do before I head off to the appointment.

I'm so excited, I hope I feel restriction.

No one told me before, but the paperwork I got after my fill said not to eat or drink 2 hours before my next fill.

I had no restrictions set, but it seemed logical to me to just have liquids before a fill so my stomach wasn't full. I did have to have liquid for the 24 hours after.

It's done! I had 1.5 cc's all along & didn't know it. The scary thing is I am exactly the same weight I was 1 week pre-op. So I didn't gain weight during the holidays for the first time ever! That's a big plus for me, especailly if any of you knew what I've been eating!

They added 1cc, I am at 2.5 now. I don't feel any different.

When I called the Dr this morning I was told I could eat a light meal, but I was already at work & settled for a Protein Shake.

If I feel restriction, I go back in 6 weeks. If I don't feel restriction, I go back in 3 weeks.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
