MissSac 0 Posted January 8, 2008 Don't get frustrated!!!!!! My doc says that we are still healing (I am three weeks out too) and that some people do gain weight back once they re-introduce solid foods into their diet (I didn't, but then again my BMI was 53 to start with) Be patient with yourself and let your body heal and then concentrate on the scales! (I haven't even bought a scale.... I won't for a long time.... it simply could be where the scale is in the house, how you stood on it... something simple) Hang in there!!!!!!!! ~Trixie~ 0 Posted January 8, 2008 I know this is a little personal, but have you been having bowel movements? I'm still having difficulty in that area myself, but once things get moving down there, I notice the scale moves as well. Don't get discouraged. Even if you have truly gained 4 pounds, you'll be able to get it off again. Don't give up! BTW, how often are you weighing yourself?
shortgal 5 Posted January 9, 2008
Your body was on liquids for several weeks and then we begin to add soft but solid food. Your body holds more Water when we have solid food in us, so it's the added weight of the solid food and Water. It's also the reason we drop so much weight while on the liquids.

solid food also has more salt/sodium than liquids and that makes us naturally retain (not necessarily over retain, tho) water weight.

Look at the bright side you're still down 17 pounds!
juliegeraci 7 Posted January 9, 2008 What you are experiencing is normal. I once gained 7 lbs in between fills. You will be okay after you get some restriction in a few weeks. Typically 6 weeks after surgery you can get a fill. Good luck.
Done 2 Posted January 11, 2008 Sounds normal to me. Hang in there! You are doing a fabulous job!
daisybug 0 Posted January 11, 2008 I totally understand what you are going through! I am 4 weeks out. I lost 14 lbs the first week, lost 2 lbs the second week, gained 2 lbs the 3rd week and gained another lb this week!!! I was told that it is VERY common because we have no restriction yet. Actually, I feel like I did PRE-op. I can eat whatever, but I try to restrain myself because I didn't pay 15 G to just go hog wild again. So I pretty much am waiting patiently for my first fill on Jan 24. I am walking and not drinking anything high calorie. Trying to stay away from bread. Those are my biggest problems. HANG TOUGH! We will get a fill soon and have the restriction that we need.
