I went for my pro-op testing this morning. SHould get results back tomorrow or Thursday at the latest. My PCP was very cool about it and acted pleased that I was doing it. He told before he left the room: "See you in a size 32".

Wow Neal that is waaaaaay slim, you hunk!!!

I dont have to pay until AFTER the surgery but I figured that if I didnt do it before the shock might kill me!!

Hah , bet that the shock of the balance made you foget the nerves though didnt it:lol:

I will have to teach DH how to log in here so that he can let you all know that I am doing OK. I am fairly sure that I will have to be in the hospital before I can get online myself though.

I cannot believe that this wekend is my last one at home with my tummy!!! WOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!!!

Hi Tracy (and others who visit us), thanks for popping in!

I just got off the phone with the surgical coordinator at my ps' office. I faxed in a letter yesterday with all my questions, and she called with the answers.

They still don't have the low-profile port, so I'm glad I nudged them on it! She said that the saline level in my band will not be changed, but recommended that I check with the bariatric doc. (I'm not gonna. Call me a rebel. I know I have a very moderate fill level, and I wanna keep it!)

I asked them to mail my scripts (incl. pain meds, Zofran for nausea, and Valium for sleep, all in liquid form) to me, because I want to get them filled in advance. She said no problem, they'll get them in the mail. (This was something I learned after the Lap Band surgery. I *seriously* did not want to make a side trip to the pharmacy on the way home from the hospital, but had no choice!)

Karey, I'm so sorry to hear about your sleeping problems and anxiety. As I was typing the paragraph above, I just wondered about whether you might want to consider asking for a script for Valium yourself! You need your sleep to be in the best health before surgery.

I told him that I prefer no staples *if possible* (although my first priority is no open incisions!), and he said he would try to avoid using them.

I asked whether he plans to tighten my rectus muscle, and he said that it will be tightened if needed.

He said I don't need to worry about caffeine, before or after surgery.

I told him my dilemma regarding getting surgical clearance/blood work (pcp won't clear me until I get blood work done, but I have to get blood work within 2 weeks of surgery, which is past the deadline for refunding my $500 deposit). He said that if I'm not cleared for surgery for health reasons, I'll get a full refund. So, based on that, I went ahead and paid in full!! Gulp. It's a done deal.

15 days for me!

Connie: Wow, new boobies for Valentine's Day. That's a great gift! You need to check in here more, so we can cheer you on. Wishing you the best.

Tami: I think I will take an Ambien tonight. I'm just exhausted. I spent almost 4 hours at the dentist today getting veneers on my bottom teeth. They look great. My jaw is sore and I think, Karey how are you going to cope with the major stomach pain?

Gals, I must just be odd or something, but I didn't need all those meds. I told the anesthes.. that I tended to be nauseous when I woke up, they added the meds for the nausea and I woke up groggy, but not sick on the tummy at all, sore, but not sick.

I hate to gloate, but I had surgery on Monday, and was taking 1/2 a pain pill by Tuesday and the last 1/2 Wed night.

I'm installing new software so I can down size my pictures, which I'll post for a couple of days, then I'll be deleting them.

When I did get sick was the first time I tried to shower and the second time, boy my head was spinning, but it got lots easier as each shower went by, my biggest pain in the a$$ was the drains. I started emptying my own drains the second day, just be sure they're hooked low enough you can handle them.

Did I mention I love my new tummy, LOL, (I know I already did) :tt1:

Expect the worst and you'll be fine!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
