losingjusme 12 Posted January 25, 2008 I got my insurance info back today and it was denied. I figured thats the decision they would make. So, I am going forward as a self pay. I am not going to appeal, but I am going to write a letter to tell them how I feel. Even though I don't get rashes, I do have significant muscle seperation and psychologically need this done. I still don't consider it cosmetic -- it is reconstructive. I will be nice and thank them for being so good with approving WLS - UHC was a breeze to work with. But I am going to point out that not allowing this, it is like only allowing me to complete a portion of my journey. yeah, im too chicken to even submit and i have UHC as well... im not going to worry about it. **shrugs** Neal, I was self pay too, another ouch, lol. I'm doing quite well, went shopping today, but new girls aren't much smaller than before, the lady who measured me at Dillards said I was still an H, OMG! I'm still swollen from the Lipo, but I KNOW these girls aren't the same size, LOL, so she suggested I wait a few days. I also discovered an end stitch, which I thought had just dissolved was open, started itching, so I "itched" it a little and then looked and it's a hole, so I'm calling in the am to see if it needs some glue or something, please not a stitch, but I don't want a pucker or a hole there. Tummy is doing well, 100% diff without the tubes. Hubby still massaging the lipo area, ok, just figure you slammed your hand in the car door, it's black and blue, and now you've been told to massage it, ouchie! The doctor said it has to be done, my hubby (smart a$$ that he is said), no pain, no gain. Take Care, hope to have pictures soon. youch... hopefully they can take care of the hole without anything painful. can you tell me more about the massaging of the lipo areas? i've done all this research on the TT, but have no idea about lipo. i've heard that you 'leak' is this true??
TamifromAL 1 Posted January 25, 2008 So, Nina & Neal, as of Monday you'll be down to two weeks. Are either of you planning on taking Arnica Montana or Bromelein? They are supplements that are supposed to help with bruising and swelling, and were recommended by my ps. I'm taking both, and was told to take them two weeks before and two weeks after surgery. I found the Arnica at a local health food store, but had to order the Bromelein online in order to get a chewable form (which was also cheaper than the ones they had at the health food store). nina874 48 Posted January 25, 2008 Ousooner - thats a bugger, it is as if you get no reward for making yourself a damn sight lower an insurance risk!!! Just think how much you would have cost them over the years if you hadnt lost the weight!! Write your letter hon it will make you feel better, and then just look forwards to the surgery and the new slim you!! Tami - have you decided yet what to do about your mum? I havent come up with any miracle answers I am afraid. How are you feeling anyway my little action woman? I was prescribed arnica and I have bought bromelain I also have to take Iron, after the op I am on all that plus clexane injections to stop blood clots. Glad that your tummy is feeling better and the drain are out that must be a release! Its strange what different advise we have all been given! I have been told under no circumstances am I to massage the lipo'd areas for at least 1 month post op so that the skin has chance to rebond with the fascia? Glad that I have that pre-op advice, much prefer the sound of it to yours!!LOL Losing - how are you doing chick? 2 weeks tomorrow I fly on the first leg out to France!!!!! OMG!!! nina874 48 Posted January 26, 2008 LOL I know it i stressing me quite a bit, but I cannot see a way around it!! I had a real turn up for the books last night when the girl that dropped out of having the TT before Christmas and didnt go on the pre-op visit decided that she was coming with us after all!!! Geraldine has had to shift things around a bit for her but she has managed to fit everything in for her! Now I dont know whether to tell DH to stay in England, as he was going to be coming out with me, her DH isnt going with her and she has said that she will go down with me. I hate change!!LOL I am feeling very pleased with myself this morning cos I have lost 3lb , I know that it isnt a lot, but it takes me within a whisker on the 11's and I think it will be such a motivation to me to see that number at the start of the weight!!! I know it sounds daft but I just know it will spur me on, and it takes me nearer to my mini goal of losing 7lb before the sx. Me me me I know!! How are you my honeybun? Did your personal trainer catch up with you?? :hurray: I know that I keep on saying it but you have so much determination hon, I have not a doubt in my mind that you will pick yourself up and dust yourself off and just get back to it ((hug)) Oh and I checked my flights and I fly out in 13 days time!!!! OMG!!!! I am flying out a day early to spend some time with my sis in Machester before I fly out for the op, but I WILL take my laptop with me :frown: NIna x
ousooner 1 Posted January 26, 2008 My Pre op got moved to Tuesday. My PS is helping me save $$$. Since I got the insurance denial, she said the pre op testing probably wouldn't be covered either. So she is letting get a physical from my regular Dr and fax the results over to her. Had I gone through the hospital it would have been an additional $975, but through my Regular Dr, I will only have to pay my $30 co-pay. So that was nice of her in helping me trim costs. losingjusme 12 Posted January 26, 2008 that is great news, Neal! nina, good news about your friend. would your DH feel comfortable being there still? i think i'd want mine there no matter what... great job on the weight loss!! i am finally on the losing side of life again (thank you low carb). i may actually make my 20 pound goal before surgery!! (fingers crossed) my trainer and i had an appointment today and pardon me, but she kicked my ass. it was wonderful. THEN, i ran... and i smashed my old 'record' of a mile. i did a mile in 12mins09 seconds. beat my old record by almost a minute... damn near killed me though. at one point i was running 6.4 MPH!! :frown::eek: (for almost a minute even!!):eek: ok, out to lunch with DD and DH take care everyone.... i cant believe it's almost February... OUR MONTH!!! (and March for Karey :hurray:)
nina874 48 Posted January 26, 2008 Hi Losing - Its funny you should ask about DH, we have just had a phone conversation about it , cos I have just found out that the kids are on half term that week so my dad would just implode!!LOL I will be fine without him, Paddy and Jenny (my TT buddies) will be there with me and I will probably out of it any way. Neal - that is fantastic news, its nice to see that some PS's still care! NOT LONG NOW!!! Hah I am getting so excited! Hah so you got your ass kicked! I bet you loved it really Respect on the running hon, I bet that has really spurred you on, you must be buzzing!I KNEW you could do it!! Hope you enjoyed lunch. Love and hugs Nina x
kareyquilts 1 Posted January 26, 2008 Gosh do I feel left out! I'm glad I found this thread! There wasn't much happening on the other threads so I started looking around. I hope I get by as well as Nana! Neil, I'm glad you're on here to balance everyone. Tami, thanks for the useful lists and thanks to everyone for website links. I've been trying to decide about breast augmentation. Odered a kit to try different sizes out in the privacy of your own home. I think I'll do it, but the extra $1,800 is a bite and I'm not sure if adding a little will make me look heavier. I've worked to hard to jeopardize that! It's all very exciting and having this group helps me be a little less nervous. I finally went to an alternative health care provider who does Touch for Health and energy work and she really helped me. I actually was surprised, but I am again sleeping through the night and have a lot less anxiety. Wish all the best!
kareyquilts 1 Posted January 26, 2008 Tami, I think you mentioned finding bromelain on line in a chewable tablet? Could you send me a link for that? Thanks.
TamifromAL 1 Posted January 27, 2008 Tami - have you decided yet what to do about your mum? Not really. I still haven't even told her I'm having surgery, because I know she'll try to talk me out of it ("You're perfect just the way you are!!"), and she'll worry about it. But, I'm still leaning towards bringing her home. Neither of us will be capable of much, but we can keep each other company! And, LOL, your "little action woman" has been putting in double time at the gym. But, I don't know what's with me food-wise. I've been grazing like crazy over the past couple of weeks. It's that TOM, and I'm blaming at least part of it on that, but I also wonder if some of it is anxiety over the upcoming surgery. Sometimes I get almost sick at my stomach thinking about the possibility of regaining the lost weight *again*. God forbid. I'd shoot myself. Is anyone else having food issues with ps looming? Tami, I think you mentioned finding bromelain on line in a chewable tablet? Could you send me a link for that? Thanks. Glad to have you with us, Karey! The company is SmartBomb.com, 1-800-425-3115. The Bromelein was 6.29 + 6.00 sh/h for 100 chewable tablets. Since the ones at my health food store were over $20.00, non-chewable and huge, that sounded like a good deal to me! Nina, since you might not have access to the internet after surgery, could you please get someone to log on and let us know how you're doing? Or maybe at least email one of us to post a message? We'll all want to know how you did in surgery, and how recovery is going. Neal, I'm doing my pre-ops at my pcp's office, too. She wouldn't do my clearance letter without an office visit, and unless I wanted to do my blood work twice, I had to delay the visit until I could do the blood work at the same time, which had to be w/in 2 weeks of surgery. That makes me just a tad nervous, though, because my $500 deposit for ps is no longer refundable at that point! (Refundable up until 2 weeks before surgery.) Why do the docs have to make this so difficult? Are they in cahoots or what??? Tami
losingjusme 12 Posted January 27, 2008 Is anyone else having food issues with ps looming? oh... me me me!! :cursing: i.want.to.eat.everything.in.site.right.now.... thanks, TOM!:rolleyes2::mad:
TamifromAL 1 Posted January 27, 2008 I think I'll do it, but the extra $1,800 is a bite and I'm not sure if adding a little will make me look heavier. They won't make you look heavier as long as you don't go too big. Implants that are proportional to your overall size actually make your waist and hips look smaller, in my honest opinion. Go for the boobies! :cursing: Tami
