Well, so far so good, or either those percocets are doing their job. Yahoo, I didn't chicken out, but day 2 & 3 will be a challenge I'm sure.

Congrats! Glad it went well. What did you have done?

Hey gang!

Actually, I'm doing very well, I have to keep moving, walking that is, to avoid blood clots, so what better place to walk to, the computer, but when I'm sitting for a spell, I put the auto blowup things around my calves.

Thanks for the prayers, I'm sure they helped

I feel great, except for the itching, only taking 1/2 of 500mg percocets (sp).

Didn't brave the shower today, not ready to deal with bandages and all yet. Keeping the drains emptied is a job, two for the Tummy Tuck, none for the breast lift/reduction.

nana,

that is so great that you are lucid ... lol. i expect to be heavily sedated the first couple of days.

i guess the pain isnt too bad if you are only taking 1/2 pain pills. do you have to walk hunched over or can you walk straight up?

my surgeon says straight up is where he wants me to be, so that's going to be "fun"... but im lucky and my doctor uses special suture technique and doesnt use drains.

Yeah, the drain things just sound nasty to me. The doctor I did consult with for TT uses two. My sister had one when she had hers.

Harley Nana, you are a rock star! Continued good health on your recovery.

Again, thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. It will be so nice to sleep tonight without the pumps going on my legs. Last night was a little tough, only because with the leg pumps on, ya can't move very much, I felt like rig amortise had set in, LOL.

I was up most of the day diddling, even fixed dinner last night, I don't usually cook when I'm well, I was just bored I guess.

I'm quite apprehensive about seeing the body without the compression garments, but I've got to get in the shower today, I know I'll feel better :)

Good grief! I figure I'll be an invalid for at least a week. Good for you! Hope you had a good night's sleep last night.

I'm back!!!!

Had a brilliant visit with the PS, though the whole trip was hectic. We tied down the final details, and he was very very pleased with my loss to date.He reminded me that when I went to see him I weighed 206lbs and now I weigh 171 which is a 35lb loss ( not much compared to most of you lot I know) but none the less I was thrilled. He printed off a collage of before and after pics to show me what I looked like when I first saw him to what I look like now, I can honestly say that I hadnt really noticed the difference til he did that!

He decided to concentrate on my legs/hips for the Lipo but he reckons he will only have to take 4/5kg to give me a decent pair of pins, he promised to lipo my waist as well and obviously the TT as well.

The plan is that we stay in hospital for a week with a morphine pump, and then move to the hotel for a couple of weeks with a nurse coming out at the same time every day after we have our shower to change the dressings etc for us - luxury or what!!

It was a bit of a reality check when we went to the hospital to meet the anaethetist, kind of a 'holy cow next time we are here....'

My schoolgirl French combined with charade type means of communication caused much hilarity with the nursing staff, and I am sure that with the benefit of a morphine pump I will still be able to see the funny side even after the op!

Nana - What size did you pick in the end?? Are you superwoman or what? :smokin: I cant believe you are up and posting already! How do you feel? Is it ok, have you had a peek yet? I hope that you are feeling fine hon and that you arent in too much discomfort, when do you see the doc next?We will all be watching your progress like hawks as you are the first one of us to take the plunge!! I will start harrasing you soon for pics :seeya: I am sending you loads of healing thoughts.

LJM - Did you miss me?!! I missed being able to chat to you all  It is getting more and more real now.I had my first ' what am I doing:eek::scared::eek: ' moment while I was there, I am sure that there will be more if them in the next couple of weeks! How are you feeling at the moment chick? Hope that you are in a better place.

Neal - Just over 3 weeks now!!! It is going to fly by! I ill check out your page on the make me heal site.

Tami - How are you doing? It is getting closer and closer now, have you had any reality moments yet? I thought about you when I was there cos you look so much like one of the before and afters that he has on his computer and the results are awesome!!

Nurseamy - How are you, do you feel like you are on the countdown yet?

Sheri - Have you had a consult yet? If so how did you get on?

Elizabeth - Have you got a date yet?Let us know as soon as you do!

Connie - How are you getting on? We havent heard from you for a while, come and join in the mad house!

It is great to be back home again, my ears are really suffering though,I couldnt make one of them pop when we landed in England and it was really sore, then I had to do another 2 take offs and 2 landings to get home so it feals like toothache in my ear now.Have tried every method I know, Holding my nose and blowing, yawning, drinking, chewing you name it! It pops and then just squeaks and fills up with pressure again....anyone got any ideas? It is driving me mad!!!

Take care all of you!

Nina, glad to have you back! It sounds like you had a good pre-op visit. I'm so jealous of your post-op plans. A week in hospital followed by a two weeks of medical assistance at a hotel? And a morphine drip for the first week??!! If they serve margheritas, I'm gonna seriously join you!

I'm down to four weeks, and I'm excited and apprehensive. I've run across messages at a couple of sites (including LBT) saying that most "loose skin" is just still too much fat. Although I disagree, it makes me wonder if I've really done all I can to make the most of myself without all that surgery. I hate it when I question decisions I already made!

I got my pre-op package in the mail, and have spoken to the surgeon's office a couple of times. No surprises so far, and all looks good. One thing I'm excited about is that I finally tracked down a lift chair to rent. I almost had given up, after calling several medical equipment places, and then finally found one. It's $50/week, plus $45 each way for delivery. I got it for two weeks, but can get a refund if I return it after the first week.

I'm really pounding away at the gym. I want to have as much muscle as I can going into surgery, knowing that I'll lose some from being unable to do any lifting for 6-8 weeks.

Oh, and it *snowed* in Alabama today! Woo hoo! That's the first snow we've had in years. My daughter made a 4" snowman, LOL.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Tami

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
