They're great aren't they! I have lost 29 lbs so far but fell off the waggon over the holidays... should be at least another 5-10 lbs lighter. I can't wait to lose my next 20 lbs... I know I can do it with the help of the band... best decision I ever made.

I remember looking at those pics in awe before I got my surgery. Part of me was thinking how amazing the people in them looked, part of me was super excited that I got to have a chance at being a success like them, and then the smallest part of me wondered if I could really do it or if this was going to be like a diet I failed at.

I am so happy to say it is the best thing I have done for myself. With hard work and dedication I CAN and HAVE been able to do this. Congratts on your band decision and I look forward to seeing your after pics!

Jacole - oh your post brought back a flood of memories. I cannot wait to see your after pic! Congratulations on getting your band next month. I hope the insurance doesn't give you any hard times and it goes smoothly.

I remember looking at all the before/after pics before my surgery, and I would always ask myself, "will I ever be able to post pics on here", It was such a good feeling when I finally posted my 6 & 9 months comparrison shots. It was a NSV for me.

Again, I am looking forward to seeing your progress!

Jacole, You will have to work at it, but the band is a great tool that I wish I had when I was your age. By this time next year, someone else will look at your pics and cry too!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
