Wish US luck I should say lol. Its been a great thing going through the process together instead of alone.

Just went to seminar last night and have my consult and psych eval on 3/20. Doc says once insurance is approved can be done in 3-6 weeks after! I'm on my way!

I'm going to the consult and pysch tomorrow I am so nervous that they (doc or ins) will say no since I'm under 40 bmi. I really need to get this done. I'll probably need co-morbs but don't have any of the major ones. I've been treated for depression and gall stones, think that's enough?

Hi, I'm 24 and I started this process in December. Right now I am doing my required 6 week behavioral medicine class and I am well on my way to losing the required 5%-10% pre-op weight. I am very anxious about the surgery, I wish I were having it tomorrow. I have pretty much put my life on hold (what little life I do have) anticipating having surgery. I'm hoping against hope to have surgery by June 1st. That would make my summer!!

well i went to the consult and did the psych eval yesterday. the doc thinks I'll get approved by ins b/c my waist measured 44 in which is way over what a female should have, plus the joint problems, the prior depression and gall stones. The psych chick was so impress about how much thought and research I put into this. Plus with my prior depression treatment that I am continuing to help with the behavior changes, I have already address the emotional eating stuff. now it's just the waiting on the ins ugh!

I am about 3/4 of the way thru the pre-op steps. I have attended a seminar, chosen a surgeon, completed and passed the psych eval, had a full physical (including blood work) and am meeting with the surgeons nurse and nutritionist on 4/2 (my surgeon requires this). Luckily I have gotten all of this done in only about a month. My insurance is great too and doesnt require much (ok, someone knock on something wood now, hehe... since requirements can change soo quickly) so I am hoping to have my surgical consult by mid month and then send everything for insurance approval. Wish me luck! I am sooo ready to get this whole thing started, but honestly I am not looking forward to the all liquid diet!

Kris,

Rock on! It's awesome that you've already lost weight. It look like we are in about the same goal range, I want to lose about 80-85lbs.

I can't beleive there are so many Virginians in here! lol. (I am too)

And thanks!!! I am way excited, the scale hasn't ever moved like this for me no matter what diet I did...my matabolism was so slow that my body says "BATTEN DOWN THE FAT!" and stored everything!

the only direction my scale has gone in the last 6 months is up. I'm sure its from stress. but i've been up and down since I was 16.

Hi Guys! I am 22, a college student in Northern Colorado. I am 5'5" and 241 pounds with a BMI of 40. I have been overweight since elementary school.

I can't wait to go to Florida and wear a bikni! And not have back, ankle and knee pain and have my grandmother call me 'stop eating' everytime she sees me.

The list goes on and on. Anyway, I am awaiting approval and it can't come fast enough. I am terrified of denial.

Nice to meet you all and I am so happy for you who have dates coming up! Are you scared?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
