I'm so mad at myself......

Recommended Posts

I am only 4 days out from when I got banded, but my facility warned me of issues like these before I got my band. Therefore, I'll be joining Weight Watchers (again for the 100th time in my life I swear) to ensure my success. I love WW, and this time I will have success...I can feel it. I don't think I could do this without knowing beforehand that it was gonna be hard - this way I feel more prepared.

I try and watch my carbs but I don't get too crazy about it. I have PCOS so low carb works really well for me. I average about 75 per day but I do eat a lot of fruits and veggies so a lot of it is "good carbs".

I indulge here and there because if I don't - my cravings will take over. Last weekend I had Taco Bell AND we went out to eat at TGI Fridays, where I had a choc/peanut butter desert. I was a bad girl but I'm working really hard not to beat myself up over it. Skinny people indulge in treats, just not EVERY DAY and in the quantity I used to.

Maybe get drastic - go back to Bandster 101. Do a liquid diet for a week and mushies for a week. Cut out the soda! Keep exercising! Walk those pooches for a few miles every day! Tape copies of the $15,000 bill to the fridge and pantry so you have to look at it every time you grab for something. Don't bring any money to work so you can't eat out. Maybe seeing a therapist would be helpful?

It's a daily struggle but you can do it!!! <O:p</O:p<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

I am in the same boat. I paid for lapband surgery out of my own pocket back in November 2006 and I'm doing absolutely nothing to keep myself from regaining the weight or to help myself lose the weight. The only bandster rule I follow the majority of the time is not drinking with my meals.

I know I need to take one step at a time, but I feel a little overwhelmed when I think of everything I'll have to do to get back on track. I'm so embarrassed by my lack of progress and the weight I've regained that I haven't even been back to see my band doctor for a year.

I'm not looking for sympathy, but I sure would like to hear from anyone who can relate and give me a pep talk.

I'm so discouraged and mad at myself. I paid $15,000 out of my own pocket (well, took out a loan and am still paying) but I am not following bandster guidelines like I should be and therefore am not losing weight. I drink with my meals, I crave junk food and fatty(chips, dip, chocolate, etc) so that is about all I eat and I drink soda a few times per week. The only thing I'm doing right is exercising.

I'm so disgusted with myself and I just can't seem to get myself to do what I'm supposed to do. I cooked a turkey breast the other day and sliced it and froze it in baggies in serving size portions, I brought one to work today along with a boiled egg and some lowfat cheese and some milk in case I wanted to make a Protein shake. What did I wind up eating you ask? For Breakfast, bacon and eggs (not too bad) and grape juice (bad) and for a snack, 1/2 of a milky way. Then for lunch, 2 cheese breadsticks and 3 buffalo chicken kickers from Dominos. Not a lot of food compared to what I used to eat but still loaded with fat and calories (already up to 1394 calories and 68 g of fat just from what I've eaten so far today) and not what I should be eating.

I don't know what's wrong with me. I want to do good but I also want to eat with my friends at work. I know that's a lame excuse but I was hoping the band would kind of make me to where I didn't have cravings and didn't really care what I ate or if I ate but it really hasn't. I have good restriction, I'm on my 4th fill with 7.2 ccs. I know I have restriction because when I don't drink with my food, I get full really fast and when I do drink with my food, it hurts bad when it goes down. It doesn't get stuck or cause me to PB though. Sometimes I wish it would so I would learn my lesson.

I know I need to get off the carbs and that would help with my cravings. How many carbs per day do some of you eat overall and what kind of carbs are you eating? Can you have like one of the 100 calorie packs of crackers, Cookies, etc without causing too many bad cravings? Any advice or suggestions for learning to change my behaviors and live with the new lifestyle that is required of me?

Hi There. Sounds like your a bit discouragrd. Do you have notritionists that will work with you? Where I haad my band done, they have a nutritionist that I meet with each time I go for a checkup. I can call at anytime too with any questions.

I know the feeling of cravings, I too drink sometimes with my meals, but my craving is choclate milk, and icecream. I just take a taste when I crave, and that usually satisfies me as opposed to eating a drinking the full serving. Dont give up! See if there is a Nutritionist who will work with you.

Good Luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
