Jane.. I have mine next to the fireplace right now. That way if I need to grab hold of something it's there. I'm sure you could put it next to a wall. It's extremely portable.

Just in from the hot tub and my exercises out there. Ethan was here all day, so I'm heading to bed early. Gramma is pretty tired out and he comes again tomorrow at 8 for the day.

Ash Wednesday services were very meaningful and I re-committed to no unhealthy Snacks between meals. Today is day 6 and I must be at my sweet spot cause I'm not feeling hungry in the evenings like I used to. Or I just am not allowing my head hunger to rule me! I gotta keep up with TracyK!!

Everyone have a good evening. sleep well.

Denise - How is everything with your daughter that was having such issues with her bf? I think about her often.
Hi Terry, I don't see her as much as I'd like to...she's always busy working or doing things with her boyfriend or friends....She hasn't said much about her relationship and I try not to pry much so that she'll open up when she needs to talk...thank you so much for thinking of her...I think about her daily, and I worry. The good thing is I'm just a phone call and a quick drive away if she ever needs me....I'll update you as I find anything out...

Thanks again

G'morning all-

I had a long post last night...then lost it...so I just said %*#! it and went to bed. LOL No, mom is still in the hospital. NOW her potassium is low so they're pumping her full of that before they do this colonoscopy...supposedly she's getting out today. She has a new roommate now...a very nice lady who is facing all sorts of new health issues. Her phone rings constantly and you can't help but overhear, but from what I gather she went into a diabetic coma and she didn't even know she was diabetic! But then I also figured out that she was FIRED from her job while she was in the hospital!!! Her boss actually had a courier deliver a letter to her as she was laying in her bed! And...get this...he's a lawyer! OMG!! Anyway, she may have pancreatic cancer on top of all that and is waiting to hear. So, my friends, the lesson here is to be grateful! Things could be so much worse!

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. It means so much to be able to come here to vent and be supported. XOXOXOXO

Pammy - I'm thinking about you!! I do hope your knee miraculously healed itself! How are you feeling?

Judy - you are an exercise FREAK! Surely you are losing weight!...right?

TracyK - Don't tell me.... You dropped another 2 pounds today? LOL You might need to change your goal weight to 125!

Ya'll have a great day!!

Terri-you are so right about listening to others stories and then realizing how much worse things could actually be!

By the way....NO I did not lose 2 more pounds this morning (smartie pants, lol) but I did lose .5 which means I am knocking on Judys door! Uno more poundola! (like the spanglish?)

Everyone have a great day!

Good morn, vi's~~

Well, all my posting time was taken up reading yesterday's posts, as I didn't get to check in even ONCE yesterday! I think that's a first! Oh my!

Know that when I'm not "here" that I AM with each of you in spirit!!

One more day!! And wouldn't you know that ds is home sick w/a stomach bug today??? !!! I'm still going to zip out & look for some clothes for me... just more quickly than I'd originally intended.

This time tomorrow I'll be packing and really freakin' out!! I can't believe I've kept this secret for more than 10 weeks!! When we get to the hotel tomorrow night, my sis has told me that she's buying me a drink @ the pool bar to Celebrate this accomplishment -- NO ONE who knows me EVER thought I could keep it quiet!! :)

I'll try to check back later... ((hugs)) everyone!

Good morning, Violets..

Ethan has arrived and he's eating his Breakfast so I have a quick minute to post. He didn't go down for a nap until 4 pm yesterday!!

Terry.. to answer your question about losing weight. I started on saturday getting serious about this band again. I had been grazing on crap for a couple of days. All stuff that I had bought "for Ethan". just happened to be stuff that I liked, right? sheeeeeeeesh. Well, it's been 6 days now of no Snacks and nothing after supper. And of course exercising a lot. I had gained 4# with all the grazing and that 4# is gone as of today. My goal of 169 by Valentine's day is now achievable. And I WILL do it!!

Tracyk... bring it on woman!! Oh and you might want to give up elbow smacking for Lent.

Michelle...hope ds feels better quickly!!! I'm so excited for you and the big surprise! That is sooooooo kewl!

Ethan is done with breakfast so I gotta run... literally. That boy is a whirlwind of energy!

Terrible and disgusting!! I hope your mom gets full of all the neccesary stuff and then gets better and stays that way!!! I can't imagine how hard taking care of parents is.

Morning Violets~

I need to whisper cause I have a slight hangover. I only had 2 1/2 Margaritas, but since I don't do this often...wowser. We had a great night. Susanne came back here (she lives and works 8.6 miles from Disney) just as we were getting out...so to the bar we all went. All my colleagues love Susanne, she is just part of the group. Some margies and some chips and salsa...and 1 bbq rib and I was stuffed. Everyone ordered entre and I didn't. Tonight we are going to the House of Blues for dinner and drinks...wish me luck!

The knee is somewhat better. I can barely walk...but I can walk. I am sooo pissed I did this to myself when I've really started loving exercise. I will be sooo bummed if I can't do my dance class anymore.

Susanne and I gave up bread for lent. I know many of you don't/can't eat it, but I still have some from time to time. I am gonna "excuse" myself from Lean Cuisine pizzas though, for 280 cal...I think I can make that exception. Today for lunch? ??Box sandwhiches, should be interesting! Might go for a veggie wrap thingy.

Ok...gotta go put my face on and check my online class. I had 12 emails yesterday, and they all needed responses!

Have a great day!

Michelle~ Have a great trip. I hope ds is better sooner rather than later! Mickey asked me to tell you to travel safe and get there quickly! OH yeah, bring tons of $$$$. I am drinking a 15.00 pot of coffee!

xoxoxoxooxoxoxo

Morning my friends~

Like Judy, I am in my Granny mode, but my Kinsey has the cold we all do, so she is purrfectly happy and content lying on the couch watching the new Aristocats Movie I bought for her yesterday!! Poor baby is coughing, and has a nasty nose....and I know exactly how she feels!

We are pushing the fluids, and planning chicken noodle Soup for lunch!

Will check in later.....hugs

Kat

Well - i'm hovering between 200 - 203 depending on the day, i'm just going to not worry about it until Sat. We have $300 worth of food being delivered Friday night so i'm not going to eprive myself, plus going to get some grape vodka. I can tolerate that so much better than rasp for some reason.

I'm off, mom got a coupon for jc penney for 75% off, so shopping we go.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
