Yep Suzie, I think it's time to change my avatar... I'll do it when I get home because it does take me forever to figure out how to get it up... I'm so picture manipulating illiterate...

Long day today and I'm really tired. So much for the snow we were to get. Now they are sayng after midnight but i think it's starting to come down now in Kansas. I have to work at Curves tomorrow and it's also our day to volunteer at the hospital.

I hardly ate anything today. Just don't feel like it. I'm liking this though. Best way to lose weight. And I need to really get busy at that. We got our letter in the mail today. Our Family Reunion is this July. It's held every 3 years because there are so many of us and we are spread out all over the states. I need to walk in there holding my head high with pride.

Did you all have a good CTCD?

Hope everyone had a great day. I'll check-in in the morning and maybe the Water Patrol will feel like being On-Duty.

Good evening, Violets..

Just got in from the hot tub. Well, I survived Fat Tuesday. Didn't even see a single paczki. This is the 4th day in a row I haven't had anything between meals. I did part of a Richard Simmons tape today before I had to go to bell choir, plus the mini-trampoline plus exercises in the hot tub. The bobster is giving up sloth and drinking with meals. He's never gone a whole meal without drinking something even though I keep telling him that's a no no... so he's going to try doing it for Lent. As for the sloth... he isn't getting enough exercise, so he'll boost that up.

Ethan comes at 8 tomorrow morning and I have a flute rehearsal at 9. Then I'm with him all day until choir at 6.

Everyone have a good evening. sleep well!

NO snow for us today---yeeehaw!!

We too went and voted, and come home, had dinner, and now just vegging in front of the TV. I should go hit the elliptical, but I am coming down with a cold, and simply don't feel like it, so am not doing it!

Laura, hope you are having a nice dinner for your birthday!

Everyone take care see ya in the morning.

Kat

hi gals

just checking in. Long ass day, but I have not killed my aunt and have kept my mouth shut. Some are very proud of me, and others just don't now how much she is pushing my buttons, but she did just loose her mom but the thing that boggles my mind the most is that she was in the convent working on becoming a num and she does not believ in god. How does that happen?????? But god or no god, it has been a very spiritual experience for me and I don't have a single bad memory even with my gram being completely unknowing for 3 years. now that is a special gift I know she made sure I had before she left us

Anyway, i'm completely wasted on 1 drink ... completely, i'm silly at this point. But I am going to send ya'll pics of my tattoo and i'll get pics of me in my dress that i have never fit in on friday when I go to the wake. new hair and all >LOL

i'm going to bed, before I fall over since i've had maybe 6 hrs sleep in 3 nights and just had a drink and 1/2. I love ya'll and consider you all part of my family and can't wait until May!

night i'll check in tomorrow

Suzie-I am speaking from experience so I hope you do not take this the wrong way cause it is said with much love & concern...

I know that it is very hard to believe, but, not eating is not the answer. It will work for a few days then you will stop losing weight and then when you do start eating again you might gain. Your body needs fuel to burn calories. We just have to make sure that we are getting the right KIND of fuel/food. So even though you may not feel like eating, eat something little anyway. You need to keep your body fed to be able to optimize your weight loss. <end speech> (or sermon as judy calls it) lol

I give dh the same speech, lol

Good morning violets! Its hump day! I am going to make an appt to get my hair highlighted. I hate going because it takes so long but it is always SO worth it! I am going to try to make the appt for valentines day because that is my 5 year wedding anniversary. Frank and I are going away for the weekend and casino hop:biggrin:.

Everyone have a great day and I will check back in after work...

Good morning, everyone!

I'm kind of a wreck today and just need to vent. I went to the hospital to see mom last night and she's not doing well at all! She has one more test this morning and i'm hoping they'll discharge her very soon after that. I just want to get her home and nurse her back to health! Hospitals suck so bad...it's no place to be if your sick, that is FOR SURE. She's so much worse than when she went in...her anemia might be 'cured' but she's just toasted from all the stress, lack of food and sleep. Just pray for her, if you will... she might not bounce back from this ordeal!

Laura - I hope you had a great birthday and so sorry DH was sick! Man, there's been a lot of crap going around, hasn't there? So what's your favorite dish at Red Lobster? I'm always curious why people like that restaurant so much...it IS very, very popular. I've been once or twice and not found it to be great...but maybe it's because we have so many fine seafood restaurants here on the coast that I"m just spoiled! Mahi-Mahi is my favorite! And I used to love fried shrimp! Can't eat shrimp at all anymore

Denise - How is everything with your daughter that was having such issues with her bf? I think about her often.

Jenn - Maybe your grandmother is now up there pulling some strings for you to snag that job. Ask for her help!! You know how angels are...you gotta ask!

Love you guys... ttyl!

Good Morning Violets~

Checking in from Disneyland!!

Susie, I saw the parking garage! Can't believe that story...wow. Tell him the parking garage is still standing!

Well, yesterday...I blew out my knee at work. I almost said a very bad word in front of the kids as I was laying on the desks. I told the kids to go get me ice...I mean this was really bad. Then driving here, it stiffened (sp) up and I could barely get out of the car (PS is about 2 hours away w/ traffic). Went to dinner, then to the keynote last night...I WAS DYING!

Susanne is here and I got into bed and slept really good...and so far it is better. I have an apt w/ doc on Friday late afternoon. I am almost depressed thinking about not being able to do Jazzercise. I finally found something I love, but honestly...my knees have hurt bad for a few weeks. I've NEVER had trouble...and am pissed that they hurt. I am hoping a few shots and I can work out. I promise not to do anymore squats.

Well...long day of food, sitting...more food, and then alcohol! I am trying to make "good choices". Last night had the salmon (OMG...melted in my mouth), the broccli, 1/2 piece of bread, but skipped the pots. Also everyone went out for dessert...skipped that. I had sooo many compliments lately, especially w/ my new pants that actually fit, don't want to go too far off track.

Have a great day everyone. I'll try to pop in tomorrow am.

Jenn~ Did you get a new tat?

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
