Laura I would be scared for your Grandmother also. I think there are some people that prey on older people, especially women. I see it all the time at the shop when somebody tells me about their experiance or their mothers or whatever. It makes me mad.

My lunch date fell through, so just have dentist, and by the way did I tell you guys I got a ticket? At work? On private property? Well I am going up to City Hall today and raise cain. I mean I have worked there over 23 years, and all of a sudden they can give a ticket on private property??? I don't think so!!! Plus I am pmsing so this should be FUN!!!!! I can be so onery at times!!

Okay have a good day.

Oh and Tracy, I think I would wait too.

Laura:

Yep, keep the stories coming though. They always make me smile!

My family is just your "normal", passive aggressive, we don't talk about our problems, type of family!

Sorry you feel bad Tracy!!!

TracyKS--I too would find a reputable dealer---much of it depends on what "gold" you are selling, if it is old jewelry and things like that, you are going to get less, as you do have to deal with pawn shops or places that will take it down---which increases their cost, and so you make less. If it is in coin form, or stock bouillion (however it is spelled!!!!!) then coin shops will usually do better by you.

I agree, that regardless of who gets elected, our economy is going to get worse before it gets better-------we are kind of like the druggie that is going to have to hit bottom I think! Both candidates have expressed their dismay at the bailout, so it looks to me as though there is change in the offing, and as hard as it is going to be.....something has to change in order for it to ever get better.

I sold what I did to cover my account due to the debit mess I had-------which they say I should have word on this week, I sure hope so! But there was no way I was taking it all out and selling it yet! Rick is going to be a bit like Laura's granny, and will likely still have it for the kids to deal with when we die!

I was hoping to have lunch with my husband and then go to my appointment, but he cancelled........grrrrrrr!!!!! He has problems at work to deal with, so is not taking a lunch. So instead, I am going to leave early, and hit the book store!! Show him!! I always spend too much $$$$ in there! LOL

Terry........can you do those earrings in assembly line fashion? If so, I want some too!!!! Let me know and I will get you a check! You are SOOOOO right, with jeans and a sweater they would be perfect!

It is pretty warm out, but really cloudy---this should push our leaves over the edge from pretty and gold to brown and on the ground! I see exercise in my future!

When I left to go riding yesterday, I put the kids saddle on Kismet! I tied her to the fence, and tossed it on her back---she went very still, and remained still until I almost got her cinched, and she pulled into me, and got my chin on the stirrup, so I have a scraped chin. She tossed a bit, but she was calmly walking with it on her when we come back, she let me reach under and undo it and brush her out....no issue. My cousin will work with her in the next year to get her ride ready---not me I am a chicken!

I hate going to town without deodorant! I cannot wear it with my mammogram, so it is in my purse for after--but I KNOW I didn't use it, so I feel yucky!!! LOL

Well, I am off to return a light to Lowes, go to the book store, go buy my granddughter a new tutu, and then have my appointment.....see y'all after the girls get smushed!

I 2nd that, time for the doc Tracy, you've been sick a while!!

What did you get a ticket for Jane?

More color in my family, my bro's gf came by to ask me to talk my brother into staying in college. Apparently he wants to drop out, because he isn't passing classes... he isn't passing classes, because he won't GO to class. She somehow thinks I have pull.. she said "You know how to influence him" (She really IS bad on drugs). I pointed out.. if I had any influence, he would never have become a druggie, wouldn't have had to go to rehab and bootcamp several times before turning 18, wouldn't have had a kid at 18 and dropped out of high school.. he wouldn't have waited till he was 26 to start college, then use it as a never-ending excuse not to work, even tho he doesn't go to class, and now.. still not working, and wanting to stop school.

Taste the rainbow!!

My head is about to explode............ DS is on the short list from getting kicked out of before/after school care......... and the thing is he told them, ok, I've been bad enough. it's time to send me home now............. (INSERT EXPLODING HEAD) Today school is out and so he's been in all day care. I had a feeling it would be bad today, because he was clingy when I left him this morning, and we've had all weekend just he and I...... I am totally at my wits end, he is so damn hard headed and smart at the same time. He turns it on and off at will, and he LIKES getting the attention, good or bad, he LIKES going to the principal, because she is a nice lady, HE LIKES going to the counselor because she has a DOG......... He LIKES when I have to pick him up.............. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

He knows he will have consequences tonight, HE KNOWS, but it is that instant gratification of RiGHT then.. not listening, not standing still, not following directions because he is pushing all his boundaries, and the teachers feel like they are hog tied as to NOT being firm with him. I'm like... (for the love of God, turn on your drill seargent voice

TracyKS - sorry for what you're going through! That sucks... I can't help in anyway, shape or form. I would lock myself up in the closet and call my mom to come fix it! Can you do that? LOL... Love you, lots of hugs for you...

Laura, Manda had a round thing like that, she went and got the meds thinking somewhere she had picked up ringworm.....it did not help, and then she broke out in this rash all over her torso, and a few on her legs. She went to the Dr, who told her his DD had just seen the derm for the same rash, and it has a name I will get from her --- so you can look it up and see if you might have the same thing. He said it rarely ever goes to the face, and will go away as quickly as it appeared, but the big lesion, the big round worm looking one will be the last to go! Wierd!!! Since I have heard of several with it!

Oops "my" dog is here....bbl!

Terry-I have some antibiotics (Z-Pack) left over from when we had this crap before so I am taking them and zyrtec.

Laura-well, I got sick, then well, now I have relapsed. Ringworm? I used to get them then when my cat died I noticed I stopped getting them

Judy-glad to see you are on! Welcome home!

Pamela-you don't know where to begin with what? Cat got your tongue? Cat meow, not Kat Kat.:tongue2:

TracyinKS-sorry about what you are going through with Robby.

This afternoon I feel a little better. I will just feel so much better when I can breathe through my nose. I slept most of the day and I think it was just what the dr ordered. Bad thing is I have eaten like a cow when I am up. What makes it worse is I can't taste what I am eating. Sad...

Have a good evening violets!

I think I know what you're talking about Kat, I found that earlier when I was googling.. I don't remember the name now but the big round one was called the 'herald' spot, and then smaller ones formed all over after that one formed.

It doesn't itch or bother me, and I know one of my cats was diagnosed with ringworm 2 years ago but it went away without meds so I let it go--even though I know it won't go away, cats can just carry it without symptoms. Just surprised it would affect me now.

Russell saw it when I was changing last night, so I have no idea how long it's been there.

I am going to my doc tomorrow for the flu shot, so I'll have him check it out while I'm there... but like I said, it doesn't itch so I'd be surprised if it was ring worm.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
