ahhhhhh, you ladies are the absolutely best in all of Lapband World!! Too kind to take me in, I feel like a step child - but now I'm starting to feel like Cinderella. lol

TracyinKs - sorry to hear about your first consult being a downer, but at least you know you want a full Tummy Tuck and the perky boobs now. But don't we all want 'em. I'm seriously taking your advice and wanting to do a consult now myself!

They sound like some very brave and mighty soldiers, I'm sure they will have the energy to conquer till the end! lol.

Its not that mine are so down, its like someone just let the air out of them. And whats worse is they only let the air out of one, seems the poor left soldier is anorexic and the right guy stands firm and mighty. I want twins dang it!

Once upon a time...I was in Jazzercise and a woman said her 8 year old daughter asked, "Mommy, why are you boobs soooo long?" Mine are small, but getting longer and longer!

Jenn - hope you get to feeling better hon... take care of yourself. Is it very very cold up there already?

Pammy - kids are so honest aren't they, LOL! Mine are droooooopppy and have been for awhile...

Been raining here all day, not sure what we're doing for dinner yet. I would love to go home, get into my warm bed and just watch tv but it's not gonna happen. And actually now that I'm typing it out, why not??? I have no kids, I have no husband... why should I go home and do laundry and cook dinner?

So i've decided. Home to my warm bed to finish my book and dinner will be some scrambled eggs with an english muffin....

I'll be back later tonight... Pammy PM me if you're on the game tonight so you can teach me what to do...

Haydee it is not very cold yet, was 70 today, but 2 weeks ago it was 25 at night and 50 during the day, and another front is coming in and it is going to be cold again... not quite that bad but still cold.

Well, i was just trying to find a pic to send my Army friend (who by the way is going to get shipped out soon) very day - anyway, I found a pic of me last October.. I need to take a full body shot... because HOLY CRAP - i was feeling pretty good about me then and now 25lbs less, i'm thinking how disgusting I was even then!

I can't beleive i looked that fat... I do know i'm still fat but yuck, I was gross - that sure put things in perspective!

Oh and I want to share this story with you gals too

A friend of mine (the one who vanished when i had surgery, remember her?) had lazer Lipo (i don't remember the real name) she was fully awake and the ultrasonic waves used to do the proceedure do something to your skin to snap it back into place... My thoughts... UNREAL... well her belly was bigger than her boobs and she does not have a drop of skin. Her dr has done it on RNY patients and 95% of the skin went back. I am thinking about making a consult after the holidays and using my tax money. for upper and lower stomach it was approximatelyy $5k. They give discounts for multiple spots and referrals and other silly things. I will see if i can get a web site or more detailed infor

Oh in 6 weeks she went from a size 12/14 to an 8 and her legs were always tiny.

My first thought was how does it go back when you have had saggins skin or even drop all that weight quicky but it did.. oh and you continue to shrink for 6 months...

There was something in St. louis a few months ago that smart Lipo was shut down and offices closed. Lots of people out of money. Don't know the details, just passing on a word of caution!!

Isn't there always somebody that spoils the fun?

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
