Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Recommended Posts

Just discovered that I have a good connection here at work. Don't know who I'm connected too but enough to get me on here.

Kat, sending you my thoughts and prayers that all goes well.

Is there another site that we can pick to go to for when this site is down. We could use a place like Newhopetalk.com or if you guys know of another that we could use for emergencies. It's very frustrating when we can't get on here.

I'll check in again soon.

Kat - you and your family are in my thoughts

Pam - it is yucky but works, warm tap Water with a couple of caps of lemon juice -

Well here is my day, as I spend lots of it at the Dr. (they were way overbooked) but got my fill, I am up to 1.5, finally! It was a great visit and was even told that when I come back in July hat I can have another if i need it. Is this the same guy? Also, they told me how proud they were of me, Stats are 50% loss over a 2 year period with the band and I am there in a year. I'll take that. I met my friend Melissa who was also getting a fill today and then went to visit my friend at the bank, all was well then I walked out side and got blasted with pollen. Now, I have had nothing but a pudding to eat for Breakfast and water and instant migraine! I had no gas so I had to stop, by time i got to the highway, I could not even see straight so I pulled into the drug store to get some excedrine. I took 1 at the counter. I got to the sitters and threw up a little tiny bit and closed my eyes for 15 mins, just enough to be able to drive home. Got in the house and went to bed for 30 mins. I am still not right but OMG so much better. I have not had a headache like that in years, and not having any food to boot I'm sure did not help.

Anyway - that is my day. I have an email from the job, but I can't even make sense of it right now but i'm going to start doing things now. I'm so excited

Laura, there is no blood connection between Manda and the "Aunt" that died. She was her Step Moms sister. While the step Mom always treated Manda like crap, her sister was always good to her. When Step Mom took the kids shopping and bought for everyone but Manda, her sister would buy her something----she was a nice woman---I felt very bad when she passed.

As if Manda did not feel bad enough, I ended up taking a sick kiddo home to her. Not sure what, but she is definitely running a fever. Give her some Tylenol, and left them lying on the sofa together---with Jason looking somewhat shellshocked!

Mom and I bought a rotisserie chicken, and some potato salad, baked Beans, (and mac & cheese for the kiddo) at the deli, and took in so they could eat without hassle---I think they both looked relieved! She said they took over an hour on her ultrasound, she said the masses were obvious, some small, and some big as oranges, looking like they all wove together--she could see how the ovary looked on the left side, and said there was nothing like it visible on the right. She said the mass is dark black--whatever that means. They measured and notated forever she said----but of course said nothing to her, and could not tell her anything.

Jason was sitting at his laptop when we went in tonight---and he wanted me to read a letter he is writing to the hospital. His Mom is an OR nurse there, and told him to write a letter about how with the issues Amanda has been diagnosed with, they ignored them all and sent her on without even checking any of the possiblities----and told him who to send copies to, and she wants him to write a letter to the editor of the local paper.....so he was getting one ready to go to the hospital.

All this going on----and I come home and there is a stove and a refrigerator, and a desk all sitting at the top of my driveway----and a huge stack of boxes. I spaced out Becky and I having the yard sale tomorrow! I called this morning, but she was in reviews all day, so I did not get to tell her anything, and so she had Gary bring all the stuff from the storage unit......guess I am yard saling, and if I have to leave, she can handle it! Wish me luck!

I am off to find something to eat, I just realized, I have not eaten today, and I have a headache---nothing like Jenns---but a headache none the less---lack of nourishment I believe!!!

Take care, I'll try to get back later!

Kat

Hi violets-WOOOHOOOO lets hear it for my SPEEDING TICKET!!! :crying: Yep, got it on my way home from work. There were a line of 3 of them sitting on motorcycles trying to trap everyone. WELL, since I knew there was no way in heck I was gonna talk my way out of it I figured I would have some fun and when he walked up I said "I am so glad you guys are out here cause people drive entirely too fast on this stretch of road". :cursing: He thought it was funny too. Then I told him that they also "need to stop cell phone use while driving too cause if I hadn't been on the phone I would have seen you and slowed down alot sooner". Oh well, life handed me lemons and I made lemonade.

Kat-I am going to keep you and dd and Kinsey in my prayers!! Keep us up to date on how they are!

Jenn-hope your headache goes away soon. They can be so miserable.

Judy-I forgot to say this sooner but wan't it exciting for TBL to have a female winner, finally?! Alli looked so teensy tiny!

Terri-you are so logical. I wish I had that calm 'voice of reason' thing going on like you do! I normally resemble this guy :cursing: or  I am glad there will be at least ONE logical person going on this trip! (no offense to all of you non-logical people )

Have a great evening violets!!

Manda met with her Dr, the PCP she used to work for, and together they did some research, and he is inclined to believe she may well have Rhuemetoid Arthritis. He put her through the diagnostics besides the obvious blood work, which has been sent in----and she has them all. And in something like 20% (not exactly positive of the amount--but the neighborhood of) of RA patients present with a dilation of the ascending aorta....but in a study of 188 autopsies, only 10 of them showed signs of needed surgical intervention....so that is better odds than I thought---if it is RA. It could take up to 2 weeks to get the results, and then her Dr. wants her to see a specialist in Durango, not the one local, he said she is impossible to get along with!!

She said some of the indicators shocked her, things she had not realized could be related. She has a tendency to swell---face, hands etc....for no reason---but it is one of the most common indicators for RA.

Will know more as she gets further into the various Dr.'s and test results begin coming back.

She said Kinsey is fine----so who knows?!

Tracy---I expected to get a ticket going after Kinsey this morning, I was hauling butt, and scared. Sorry you got it instead. I would have been crying, and not joking. My DH and my kids all tease me because I have a perfect driving record. I have been in several accidents, never one my fault....yet. I have been stopped 3 times, but never cited....yet. I know it is bound to happen----but right now I love it, because my MIL loves Lording it over everyone that SHE has a perfect record, and right now I can say me too!!! Of course my MIL does not drive even the speed limit, she NEVER goes over 55---anywhere, and is usually at least 5-10 mph below the speed limit. Scary as hell to be with her, people flying past with the one finger wave!!! She is oblivious!! We never let her drive if we all go together. Our trip to TX takes Rick and I 12 hours, it takes her 17 minimally! No kidding, and they do not stop like we do. We stop and go in and eat, and shop some, piddle around...we always hit Lubbock and Abilene---we have our places....and I have to stop at a little veggie stand in Mule Shoe to get green chile powder! They pack food, and drive.....or used to, we drive them now!

Well I am rambling....nerves....so I am going to try to go to bed. Becky will be here at 7------yuck! I don' wanna do this!

Night girls--thanks for always being there for me---you ARE the BEST!!!

Morning gals

I am just so happy this am, my fill is working, I am officially back in the game and as of this am -1 from my contest weight. There is hope for me yet!

Kat - I'm glad she has someone who is figuring it out so they can start treating her.

I got an email this morning, I've been invited to attend a pre work meeting and they are going to have me getting stuff from vendors and making sure it is all together, this might be perfect timing for our trip

Morning folks,

Note to Suzie. No route 44 ice tea with lemon from Sonic in the late afternoon. It causes 3 trips to the bathroom during the night. :rolleyes2:

Was ready to get off work at 7:30pm last night when I got a call from younger sis that older sis was acting funny and not feeling good. Decided to swing by her place and check and ended up taking her to ER. Was there till midnight when they wheeled her to a room. She was so dehydrated it took almost 45 minutes to put an IV in her. They were hitting veins but not getting any blood from them. They actually had to go to fer feet to dry labs. Yikes. She just about broke my hand. Anyway since she was running a fever and that is not usual for her gastrioporesis(SP?) they were thinking that she might have a flu.

Other than work today -which seems to be my only saving grace- I really don't have much on my plate for today but that's only because both sisters are still sleeping. I'm sure once they are up I be busy.

One good thing about it is that I have been living off of lifesavers for days. Should have another good weight loss this week.

Everyone have a great day.

Oh dear, Suzie! Please remember to care for yourself as well as you are caring for everyone else!! When it says "Lifesaver" on the package, they're not being literal! :rolleyes2:

Another day, another... day! Hung w/my friend w/the dd issues yesterday... helped her edit her grad school paper (hint, hint, Pam...)... she says she's getting me warmed up for her dissertation in a couple years (ahem, Pam...)... everything seems to have settled down for her for now... still up in the air w/her dd...

I'm walking into a crazy/odd situation later today that is really too complicated/convoluted to explain here, but suffice it to say that I will need to have my "A" game with me... all my Violet confidence & balls & bravado... which I can do... it's just I'm a bit nervous about it for some reason... which I can't let them see... so I need to get PUMPED UP! GRRRRRRR! Wish me luck!

Make it a great day, everyone!

Michelle~ COWGIRL UP!!! KICK ASS AND TAKE NAMES!!! Nobody should try to mess w/ a Violet! Never underestimate the power of PURPLE!! You can do it! We are behind you!!:tea::cry_smile::rolleyes2::Banane20::confused::Banane36::lol::tt1: The middle finger one is all about your attitude, not directed to you! Let us know how it went!

And, were you trying to tell me something in your post about something??? It was a bit unclear:wink:.

THANKGOODNESSITISFRIDAY!!! Been a long week...didn't get home last night until 8.Susanne was sleeping by 8:30. Anyway, we have a couple coming over for drinks and appetizers tonight. MIL may come this weekend, wont know until later today. I came home and had a beer yesterday. I've noticed I am a bit cranky and short tempered. I got into it w/ a friend yesterday at this fund raiser event. We buy these tickets, and then they call out numbers and winners get to PICK these beautiful baskets (full of goodies). Well Susanne won first!!! But she is shy and told me to go up and pick one. My friend won second. She comes up and is "looking w/ me" (or so I thought)...she tells me, "hey, there is a movie one w/ passes down there." I go over to look, and then she takes the one I was really looking at (w/ wine, olives, a baggot of bread, beautiful basket). I turn around from looking at the movie one (FULL OF candy AND MOVIE PASSES) which I didn't want, and she was gone w/ the basket I wanted. I was pissed and didn't hide it well. I think, I should have picked first since I (well susanne) won first. THERE, NOW THAT I'VE TYPED IT...I FEEL BETTER. Of course, she was like, oh, take this one, if you want it. Then she was alll defensive cause I was obviously pissed. Which, then I had to say, "oh no, I don't give a shit...blahblahblah" I think what I was really pissed about after the whole thing was how she turned it around like I was the "bad guy" and I ended up apologizing. F%CK...getting pissed again. Going to my happy place!

Have a great day!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
