I hope they can schedule me soon after the appt. This is the same Dr. I checked in with before, and researched, and looked through his before and afters etc.

I am going to have my Uncle check once more for me before I schedule anything. I have heard of several local MRSA cases, I want to know none of them are his!

My Uncle is a MD so he has ways of checking that I don't----plus he is totally honest with me---sometimes I want something so bad, I tend to gloss things over!

Hope this happens soon! Imagine in a month I might be sitting here without this alien belly hanging out with me!!

Kat, that is awesome news!!! Wow girl... you're gonna lose a ton of weight and sizes when the procedure is done. Just in time for the big Bash!! Then we can all ask to see your scars.

I had a couple of NSVs today. We went to Walmart to get a few things. I saw some Faded Glory stretch jeans on sale from $16 down to $9. So I got a pair of 14's thinking I can wear them later when I get past the 16's. WELL... I tried them on when I got home and they fit with plenty of room. PLUS I got a t-shirt to wear under a tunic for our New Day Singers picture tonight. The biggest size they had was a medium 8/10. I figured since it would be worn underneath something, it didn't matter if it was a little tight or not. I tried it on when I got home and IT FITS with plenty of room. I guess I just have a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact that I am no longer in 22/24 2X stuff anymore! What a great feeling! Now if I could just get a bra that fits, I'll be happy. I'm having the worst time with that. I really need to get fitted, but just haven't figured out where to have it done. I also got some new sandals for the cruise. Size 8 and 1/2 down from 9 and1/2 wide!! I'm lovin' it!!!

YAYYYY Judy!! You guys are just flying down, I told DH it's about time to order new jeans for me.. and I'm DEBATING ordering 15's. OMGness!! It took a couple weeks to finally fit comfortably and muffin free into the 17's, and they run small, so they're more like 15-16's.. if I get the 15's they will likely be too tight, but in a few weeks I can wear them. That mean's I'll be in a 13-15.. gasp! I'm about to catch up to my ma!!

My band is being more fickle lately than it ever has been. NY trip, I was able to put away SO much food, good food.. like mutton (steak type). It was like I had no band, I dunno how I did it. Anyway, I was thinking last week, I am due for a fill.. just .1cc really. A small one to get that tight feeling back. But now, I'm tight again! We went for mexican last night. At night, when I'm loose. And 2 bites of rice (which never gives me a problem BTW) and 2 bites of a chili releno.. and I was dying. Then I started hiccuping (doozy for me), so I spit it all up. Very bizarre... I decided I DON'T need another fill yet. NYC my band just was so excited to be there, it loosened up? LOL

AND YAAAAAAAAAAAAY Kat, that's such awesome news. I wish my insurance loved me  They want me to deal with being fat on my own dime!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRACY!!! mmmmmmmmmuuuah!!

:party::thumbup::cake: :cursing::lol::lol::cool2: :hat: :sad:

Terri I had a question, I'm going to send you my $$ from the left-over tax refund (how cool does that sound?) The price you sent me, is total? Includes the rooms in both places? I kind of fell out of the loop while you guys planned TX so I don't even know what we're doing lol. I'm along for the ride, but I thought I heard it's 2 different places? I just wanted to make sure, the cost you sent me is for both total?

Yes, after you pay me that, you shouldn't owe another penny for lodging. That's total for both places, including tax etc.
Anyone else nauseated every morning?

yep...as soon as I stepped on the scale this morning I thought I was gonna throw up!!!

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes....

LOL Tracy!!

PAM - Hmmm. Preggers perhaps?? Oh. nevermind!

That's GREAT news, Kat!!! I know it means so much to you! Sheesh...you're likely to lose 10# in one whack! (no pun intended ... yeee-ouch!)

Laura, isn't that a bell pepper dish? I imagine it was the skin from the pepper that did you in. The rice could have done it too, I suppose.

I am going thru the same thing i did the last time I got filled (then unfilled) back in September. Restriction is great for a couple of days...then gets so tight I can't eat a damn thing :frown:. OMG, I got into sooooo much trouble last night eating an angel hair Pasta dish which normally goes down fine. Gina scared the hell out of me too with that slipping thread! Now i'm all paranoid and eating nothing but mushies and foods I KNOW are safe. I just don't understand how I can go from being "wide open" to "overly tight" on only 0.2 cc. i'm a little worried but will try to ride it out.

No, the scale hasn't moved. 181-182 for days now.

Kat - congrats to you on your loss! Getting sick seems to be the way to go. LOL

Haydee - I'm sorry! I hope you're much better today.

Tracyks - I start my new job on Monday!!!!

Just went shopping with mom, she got me clothes for my birthday that is coming up. I got... 2 pr dress pants, 2 pr casual pants, 3 skirts and a bunch of tops (5 sweaters and 5 shirts) all for $250! and I was so very happy with everything I got. I am slightly bloated from TOM but all the bottoms were 16's - which should I mention I was thrilled about because when I was this weight last time I was in 18's and tops were med/lg depending on how I would wear them.

Then we went to applebee's for dinner and I stuffed myself - came home and made Breakfast and lunch for tomorrow. I need to get it together!

Anyhoo.... I'm going to hang up my clothes and do some more laundry...

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
