TracyinKS - I meant to ask about your boss/nun issue....what ever happened with that? Did she actually allow him to use his own money? Not all nuns are bad but at least half of them are so, so bitter!! I guess I would be too if I never got laid! LOL

Michelle - are you feeling better? You really had the blues there for awhile. Sounds like you've been so busy you haven't had time to examine your own state of mind. Ever since the beginning of school you've been going full blast and I keep hearing you say that you *think* things will be slowing down soon......but they don't!!? Go get yourself a massage or a facial, girlfriend! You deserve it!!!

I've taken the day off today (wheeeee!) and I'm heading to the mall. I need everything but really don't feel like spending the money! :-/ I hate spending money on work clothes! Hate it!!

I'm taking Hero to Doggie Day Care today...he'll get so spend the whole day playing with other dogs! He will be totally exhausted by the time I pick him up!....maybe. That's one thing I do like about living in a big city...there's every kind of service you can possibly think of here!

Well, ya'll have a good day and I'll check in later! XOXO

You've hit the nail on the head, Terri! I am feeling better, but it very well may be because of the busy-ness. And yes, I realize the opposition between what I SAY and what IS... but that's because w/me, HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL!! :) But I really DO think that Nov - Feb will be less busy... fewer kid activities, more time at home... that will be bliss! This super-hyper speed we've been living at the past couple months (w/the past few weeks being extra-hyper) WILL be over soon... but yeah, I'll probably always be "busy"... that's just me... A massage... ooooohhh that would be lovely... too bad I'm just so super duper money stressed right now, too (key to the overeating!!!). But I just keep on keepin' on... have as much fun as possible doing whatever it is wherever I am... what's the alternative??

Enjoy your shopping day!!

I just had an "ah-ha!" moment! Right here, right now!

And it's one of those "duh" things, too... as if I should have consciously realized this ages & ages ago...

Here it is (hope I can explain it right)...

I was e-mailing two friends about tomorrow night (Halloween). They both live in rural areas, so I invited them (ok, one of them invited herself) & their families to come here for trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. But me being me, that wasn't "enough" somehow, so now I'm going to do dinner for everyone before, & have drinks, etc., for after.

So I'm typing along, and it hits me -- THIS IS HOW IT HAPPENS! This is how I end up so BUSY... I do it to myself! And then it hits me that THIS IS A MAJOR COMMON DENOMINATOR OF ALL OF THE VIOLETS! Bingo, baby! We're all such GIVERS! DOERS! CARERS! We do & do & do for others... we're selfless... we put everyone else first, and our own needs & wants last (if at all!)... but the one thing that's always there for us... that always makes us feel better (or not feel) is FOOD! We were all able to make that shift last year when we got banded... getting banded forced us to put ourselves up top of the list... to be a little selfish... to take care of ourselves first... but now as time has gone by... we're slipping back down (& even off) the list again... old habits are sneaking back in... and we're stalled/gaining/struggling... hmmmmmmmm... methinks I may have had a breakthrough!!

Thoughts??

Morning Girls,

Just sitting here waiting to have my oatmeal. Today is going to be a little laid back. I actually have the day off. Need to get myself prepared for the upcoming workload.

Last Sunday hubby hollered at me that the wind blew the cover off the pool. So out we go in the freezing temps and frigid air and pull the cover out of the Water and reattach it. Yikes it was cold. Hubby put the sump pump on and got all the water off the top of it. So, yestereday he tells me he isn't feeling good. I start doctoring him up. This morning he told me he drained all night long and now his voice is almost gone and he's got an awful cough. Oh Boy. That time of year again. We all get sick now.

Everyone have a great day. I'll check in later.

Ha! Michelle -- that might be you, but I don't consider myself a 'giver'. I'm not a 'taker' either. My mother taught me many things, but what stands out is that she taught me to balance my life -- to do what is important to ME at least as often as I do for others. I consider myself a good employee, mom, wife and friend -- by my own definition of what that is -- but someone from the outside looking in it may not appear that way. But I hear what you're saying and I agree that you do this to yourself! You could do just as well by ordering some pizza or chinese before Halloween and everyone would be just as happy....as Judy says, "Its NOT ABOUT THE FOOD!!"

Morning chickies, how's everyone today?

Terry - oh in my family, it is "all about the food". We are just disgusting when it comes to how much food is prepared. That's just how we show love. And fortunately (or unfortunately?) me and my sisters are the only chunkies. Everyone else is sooo make me sick skinny.

That's one of the things that Mary Jo was trying to help me with. That since my family was so food focused how could I get the focus off the food and just on us being together as a family. None of her suggestions ever worked :)

Michelle - I'm a giver giver giver like you. I allow it to happen, it's my fault. Then I go and cry to Juan about how stressed out I am and how no one appreciates me. He's sick of hearing it. But you're right, I do it to myself. What would happen if I said "NO"? Or what would happen if, God forbid, I didn't offer my help? Nothing of course! But get that through my thick head! LOL. Hugs to you my doppleganger twin...

Jane - I hope this gets resolved quickly. I can't imagine the stress you're under! Stay strong and just know that the end is in sight! Love you!

Suzie - take lots of Vitamin C in order to ward off any sickies that your husband might be passing along to you... They sell it in little pouches at Walmart, just stir it into your Water. Different flavors. They don't taste too bad...

Pammy - what did you end up watching Tuesday night? I remember someone was going to watch the Secret lives of Bees? Was that you? Was it good?

That was me. I went and saw "The Bee's".

It was enjoyable. Queen Latifah and Dakota Fanning were wonderful in it. They work well with each other. Jennifur Hudson and Alicia Keyes were so-so. Very sad story though. Take kleenex with you if you go.

Michelle, so what's the magic fix? :)

I weighed myself last night.. are you ready? I'm so ashamed and disappointed!!! 229lb. So disheartened. 212lb on Aug. 19, and now I am up 17lbs. I was so close to 100's, now I am creeping far far away. Don't know what to do, I can't explain it.. I am so hungry and I just can't stop. No will power whatsoever. I need to get the fill and get over the tight days. Do liquids on my tight days and be done with it.

No "magic fix" I don't think... for me personally, I think awareness & commitment to balance would help... but I'm so much like Haydee... I do it because I like to do it but then I overdo & I get mad at everyone for not helping or appreciating all I do... a vicious cycle...

And Terri... I do think you're very balanced... but I also think you're a giver. That's a great lesson your mom taught you! Surprise! My mom taught me the Martyr Giver Syndrome!

Laura... be gentle with yourself re: weight during your pregnancy. If you're eating nutritiously for the growing health of your little babe, then it's ok... if not, then re-evaluate.

Man I love my Vi's!

HA! Here I go again!!

So I just finished up a chapter (yay!) and so for my "break" I think, "I'll just go whip up a pumpkin crunch cake to take to the couple who ran the CSA this summer!" (today is the last pick-up & I though it'd be a nice "thank you" for them)

Did I think to go take a walk? Knit a bit? Catch a bit of the "View"? Anything sheerly for my personal enjoyment? No, I did not. It's either flip the laundry, mop the kitchen floor, or bake, evidently!! I am SO others-oriented!! (Altho I do get pleasure from baking... thus the excess poundage!)

I'm full of self-awareness today!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
