Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Recommended Posts

It's "PAM!" <group laugh here!!> She's turning us all, one by one... she started w/Judy, and now Tracy!!

What a great picture of a great day... you really do look mah-ve-lous dah-link!! ((hugs))

For some reason I just consumed the bottom of a cool whip tub w/choc sauce & crumbled up heath bars... WTF?? :tongue_smilie:

I just have too much going on, internally/externally, homewise, workwise, volunteer wise & every which way. One more week of summer, then the kids start school & I am HOPING that our lives smooth out a bit & get into a routine... even a busy routine is better for me than this "every day is different than the day before" thing that we've had going all summer. + ds will begin HS and I am still having a major problem w/that emotionally!! Waa waa, poor poor pitiful me.

Someone smack me!

I love the pic Tracy! I am SO excited/nervous about Macy starting Kindergarten. Did you cry? I know I am going to.

Judy-if you have not lost members of the chuch I would be surprised. How sad it is that he isn't a people person.

Michelle-ok, thanks, I will check it out!

Terri & Haydee-thanks for offering to help find the jumpers. I really appreciate it!

Sheri-Hi again....we see you down there!

Kat-my dsd is 14 and has been "certified" as a babysitter. Has a diploma and everything. lol Cute, huh? The game is a day game and thank God for cell phone, so it should be OK.

Gotta run for a while...I'll be back :tongue_smilie:

and Tracy.. NO I did not cry...... he was such a big boy, he even asked me why others WERE crying and then when he started clinging to me because I think he THOUGHT he was supposed to cry.. I hugged him and told him how VERY PROUD I was of him and that he would have so much fun meeting all kinds of new friends and that it would be SOOO cool because he would LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY SINGLE DAY! and then he could come home and tell me what he learned. He liked this a lot.

TracyK----back in the day, when Manda started Kindergarten I DID cry----I cried the first day because my baby started school, and I cried again the 2nd day because back then they only kept them half a day!!!!

Well, we have got nothing done, Rick has been called in to work to sign crap, and stopped to check on our son, and has yet to meander back home, it is beginning to irritate me now!!! I hate the hurry up and wait routine.

My neighbor across the street has a broken gas line, makes me a bit nervous! There was a house out by my Mom literally blew up last winter due to a broken gas line---and it was the house across the street from the break! Well I am not directly across, kind of kitty corner. They gave her a cost estimate of 10K to dig up and replace all the lines. And it is not something she can just have anyone dig up---they have to be licensed to dig around the live gas lines. And home owners does not cover anything of it. Yikes that would be a hard pill to swallow!

Judy, I know leaving your friends and your choir would be difficult, but in the end, it might come to that. I know I have almost completely quit going and it boils down to the new preacher......and unlike some people it is not an issue to me that this is our first woman pastor. My issue is she has ZERO personality, and is dull in her sermons, she is like a poor teacher, she has pets in the congregation, and they hang out, and she does nothing in regards to the church. My brother has donated his services to the church for 7 years, he does all the groundskeeping. Well he had sprinkler heads get vandalized this year and when he went to her to tell her they needed new ones she seriously ask him "And the church helps with your yard needs because of your handicaps is that it?" She thought he was asking for his own house, in the 2 years she has been here she had no idea he spends EVERY Saturday cleaning and mowing, and working at the church! They have an AA group that uses a classroom, and he even picks up their cigarette butts--by hand! GROSS! She was so surprised to find he did it, she thought it was a lawn company, paid by the church board. We have been going to this church our entire married life, and myself for my entire life! I have been in her congregation many a time, had dinner with her 3 different times, she has been invited to cook outs at my folks house (who are VERY involved with the church) and yet to run into her in the grocery store she cannot call me by name. Maybe we should introduce the 2!!!!

Guess I will have ham, cheese and crackers for lunch-Kinsey is eating a corn dog!!

Talk later!!

Kat

As a retired kindergarten teacher, I gotta tell ya, there were more tears from moms than from kids on the first day. Second day is rougher on the kids. That's when my rocking chair got a good workout! But after the first week or so the kids are settled into a routine and it's great. The last few months of school were the best cause you could see how far the kids had come in all areas. I miss those days.

but I love cruisin'!!!

Awww!!!! What a good teacher you were!!

All this talk about kids going off to school has me all sentimental!! All the folks around my office are more my age...and many have kids going off to college now for their first year away from home!!! Now THAT will put a lump in your throat!!! I am so glad mine is staying at home this first year. I don't think I could take it!:tongue_smilie:

Just received this email and thought I'd share.. and NO, it didn't hit close to home!!

DEAR DIARY . DAY ONE

I am all packed and ready to get on the cruise

ship. I've packed all my pretty dresses and

make-up. I'm really excited.

______________________________________________________

DEAR DIARY . DAY TWO

We spent the entire day at sea. It was beautiful

and we s aw some whales and dolphins.

What a wonderful vacation this has started to be. I

met the Captain today and he seems like a very nice

man.

______________________________________________________

DEAR DIARY DAY THREE

I spent some time in the pool today. I also did

some shuffle boarding and hit some golf balls off

the deck. The Captain invited me to join him at his

table for dinner. I felt honored and we had a

wonderful time. He is a very attractive and

attentive gentleman.

_____________________________________________________

DEAR DIARY . DAY FOUR

Went to the ship's casino & did OK ... won about

$80. The Captain invited me to have dinner with him

in his state room. We had a luxurious meal complete

with caviar and champagne. He asked me to stay the

night but I declined. I told him there was no way I

could be unfaithful to my husband.

______________________________________________________

DEAR DIARY .. DAY FIVE

Went back to the pool today and got a little

sunburned. I decided to go to the piano bar and

pub & spend the rest of the day inside. The Captain saw

me and bought me a couple of drinks. He really is a

charming gentleman. He again asked me to visit him

for the night and again I declined. He told me that

if I didn't let him have his way wi th me he would

sink the ship. I was appalled.

______________________________________________________

DEAR DIARY . DAY SIX

I saved 1600 lives today... Twice.

Judy, you left yourself wide open with that one. LOL.

So, here's part of my day. I had a Doctor's appointment with the Spine Specialist, the same Doc that did my sisters surgery. I had to go see him because of some stuff they found in my ex-rays from when I fell. Anyway all is ok and he does want to see me in 4 weeks but he said he wouldn't be surprised if I cancelled my appointment. He said everything is healing great and that I might think I don't need to come back. So I said before he left if I could ask him a question. I told him about my lap-band and that I have lost 165 pounds and still want to loose more, but with my stomach the way it is could it be pulling on my back. He said that it was a definate possiblity, that the back would just compensate for the heaviness from the front. So I asked him when it came time to have the TT, would he be willing to help me fight the insurance company? He said he would be more than happy to do that. I don't want to have any problems like my sister has had and having the surgery would help with that. So it will be a year or more before I'm ready for the surgery but I have a Spine Specialist in my back pocket.

Reminds me of the time when I went to my regular Doc and told him I was looking into having the Lap-Band and he told me he would take me to the hospital and walk me all the way into the surgery room if that was what it would take. I have been so luck to have had all the support I've had.

Now, back to the Olympics.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
