Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Recommended Posts

Yeah!!! This is really all or nothing. Something cute, whimsical and small. I like the pix Laura made for our siggys...something like that. Location is personal. But it would be a great hoot and such a fun reminder of our special bond and friendship!

Kat~time to be selfish...this is your time to live to the fullest (listen to my bs...as if you need a tattoo to "live to the fullest)

lololo

Hate to tell you guys, but I would probably be the lone holdout... I'll gladly serve the tequila though!! Tattoos are fine on other people but NOT on me, and NOT on my kids!!

Hah no problem Terry, I don't think anyone can hold it against anyone else for not wanting to get a tattoo. They're permanent!!

Judy~ You guys look great in both pictures. I love the title too!

Terry~ no worries about the tat...they are permanent ya know. It was just a suggestion, but I didn't think everyone would do it. Susanne would kill me anyway, lol!

NOt as safe as you might think, Tracy!! :smile2::tt2: I always have thought that I'd like to get a tiny tattoo when I hit my goal. But a little violet would be darn cute and a great reminder.

Gee, great...thanks ALOT!:scared2:Well, now I have to tell dh that "the preachers wife is gettin one!". DH doesn't really want me to and I am torn. I would like to get one (maybe like dime size on my shoulder) but I also want to respect what he thinks too. Kind of a tough situation for me. I will just mention it to him when I get home from work. I will be able to tell by the way he reacts if he is OK with it or not. NO, he doesn't control me....it is a respect issue.

Tracy I am totally with you on that.. if you DH is that much against it, I would definitely forgo it. Get a henna tattoo that will wash off!

Tattoos aren't that important, DH doesn't want me having anything trashy & visible (neither do I), but if he had a problem with tattoos in general I would not get anymore. It has nothing to do with control, but darn.. if DH isn't going to dig it, and they are the only ones seeing it!!

But throwing out 'but but the preacher's wife is doing it' is a nice touch

Ok, Laura. how come my signature pic is smaller than yours and Tracyk's??? You said I would have to resize it cause it was too big, but it wasn't. I didn't resize it at all.

Hmmm..

No, you didn't need to resize it, Tracy tried to just 'add picture' on her signature, and it told her the file was too big.. so I was saying, don't do that method, since it says the file was too big.

I don't know why it resized, but looking at the properties, your picture is now a .gif... did you convert it to .gif? I sent you a .jpg.. So, somehow it was converted into a different file type.

Maybe that is why it resized.. If you can go back, make sure it stays a .jpg.. if it still gives you trouble, I'll keep it on my photobucket and give you the code

I decided to raise my goal weight (from 150 to 165)...for a couple of reasons. 1) I'm actually fairly happy right where I am...but not quite. Another 15 pounds would be great though; 2) 165 is just more realistic for an old hag like me; 3) I can always lower it later if i get on a roll; and 4) it helps me to not feel so 'defeated'. 15# seems more do-able than 30.

There. I feel better now.

Wow Terri-you beat me to the punch!! I have been wanting to change my goal weight to 169 cause as long as the scale says 16anything I will feel like I have won the war. I just put 165 originally cause it souonded like a good number. But now...I like where I am. I am feeling everything your saying, all but the "old hag" part. I am not claiming that one yet...and neither should you!!

With all that being said...I can now officially change my goal weight to 169 (Terri did it first:tt2:) After that, if it comes off more, fine, if not that is fine too.:biggrin:I know I will lose about 8-10 more just from a TT.

PS...after I changed my weights I realized that 169 will be an even 100 lost....sounds good to me!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
