Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Recommended Posts

Not only is tomorrow CUT THE CRAP DAY!!! It should also be I am not going to look at my stocks/ira's/401ks/ etc... It looks like tomorrow is going to be horrible!!!

I start my bootcamp at a place called Butterfly Life. It runs for 8 weeks and should be fun. There are 2 or 3 Thursdays that I won't be able to make it there, but the rest should be fine. It is sort of like Curves, but they have a 8 week session that goes into dieting, then 1/2 circuit training, then another 1/2 hour with a workout dvd. Should be interesting. Need to jumpstart my weightloss. I so am not an exerciser. I wish I was. I wish I enjoyed it!! You could tell the girl today was saying how excited she was about it, but I think that was just her spiel. We'll see, tomorrow should be really busy, have to work by myself after being closed for 2 days. I hate that!!! I also start later than Charlie does so I will have 39 people ask me how come I am late! Oh well I am stopping my complaining and saying have a good night!!!

Jane

Good Morning, Violets

Jane.. stock market is supposed to open at 500 down. ARGHHHHH!! The Bobster's pension is stock market based. When the market goes down, so does his pension. It's adjusted each quarter. Sure hope it recovers or we'll be hurtin'!!

Jennifer... good luck at the docs today!!

Pamela....houses are 4-500k?? Can you adopt me???? YIKES! Nothing like that around here and certainly not in my neighborhood.

Seems like we have lots of missing Violets these days. Suzie, Cindy, Laura. Check in and let us know you're ok!!

I'm off to do my hospital shift. Everyone have a great day and remember to make wise choices!! I'm making chicken salad today cause it was mentioned yesterday. The power of suggestion! Made some bean salad last night so that will be a good Protein snack when I need it.

TTFN.......

Morning Violets~ I had a dream that we were all at this old lady's house rumaging through all her stuff. She was there, just had bunches for sale. I think it was a store, and she just lived there. Anyway, it was pretty cool...all of us shopping.

Judy~ the 4-500k price tag is ONLY a reflection of the market in Palm Springs (well, lots of places) and not a reflection of the houses them selves. In 1980, we bought this for 80k...same house...different market, lol.

Well, back to work. Susanne left last night at 9pm. That is late! Can't wait til this is over!

Hey, the feds just cut the interest rate 3/4 of a percent! Woohoo...go shopping!

Have a great day!

Well I have a King sized sheet thrown over the dining table---and Kinsey is snuggled in with blankets, a couple of pillows, her favorite dolls and Lord knows how many books! She will be happy in there for awhile! Ooops spoke too soon. We had not stocked her kitchen!!! She needed Snacks. She now has a well stocked kitchen--cheese and cracker packs, and clementines!!!

I was bringing the blanket and sheet out of the extra bedroom, and whacked my elbow on the door jam. It made me cry! I did not hit my "funny bone", just the elbow itself, it still hurts---30 minutes later!

Add to that I am having horrid heart burn....I ate a salad for dinner last night, and I know better! Salad, or raw veggies take too long to digest for me to eat lots of them at night.

Can no salad at night, and tuck in your elbows be my tip of the day???

Ok, I will find a different one, and post it soon!! Better go hunt one up!!

BBL~~

Good morning violets-

Jenn-good luck at the dr!

judy-I never did make chicken salad yesterday, so maybe I will make one today too

Pamela-I am glad that alls well that ends well as far as the house. I know the hood must have been freaked out thinking about how the neighborhood might end up being trashed. Would have freaked me out too! Amazing how people can get away with just moving in and not have permission. Some people have so much nerve. Not to mention the lack of respect for other peoples property! I hope they did not trash the house!

Same story with Macy. She woke up an hour after she went to bed boohooing cause she was coughing and could not breathe through her nose. Then she woke up at 3 AM but went back to sleep after I gave her some medicine. I had to start taking some Robitussin and tylenol too.

Everyone have a good day!

********TUESDAY'S TIP OF THE DAY***********

10 Things You Can Do To Lose Fat Without Even Trying

1. Eat smaller more frequent meals - not only is your metabolism boosted every time you eat something, your body can more efficiently process smaller meals. Instead of having 3 large meals in a day, try to break them up into 5 or 6 smaller meals...

2. Drink more water - regular Water intake helps to flush away waste products in the body. Get at least six to eight 8 oz. glasses per day. An easy way to do this is to keep a water bottle handy and drink from it frequently.

3. Be inefficient - do you need to go to the kitchen to get a couple of things? Break it up into to two trips even if you can do it in one. Being inefficient like this can easily double your activity level, burning calories without even trying.

4. Eat more protein - sources of Protein include foods such as chicken, fish, eggs, dairy, Beans, lean red meats, etc. Your body burns more calories processing protein than either carbohydrates or fats. Protein also helps to support your muscle tissue, which burns calories all day long!

5. Take the stairs instead of the elevator - any time you can add in a little more physical activity, do it. This doesn?t mean you need to slog up 20 flights of stairs. Even a flight or two done regularly will add up.

6. Don?t let yourself get hungry - when you get hungry you will have a much greater tendency to overeat when you do finally get something to eat. As well, because your body is starting to go into starvation mode, it will be much more likely to hold onto whatever you give it.

7. Order small portions at restaurants - it?s tough to order small french fries when "supersizing" your order is such a great "value." Take note, however, your real savings will occur in the calories that don?t end up on your backside.

8. Eat more fiber - Fiber is very filling. By eating more fiber you will find yourself full sooner. This feeling of fullness will last a long time as well.

9. Wait 20 minutes between servings - your brain takes at least 20 minutes to register that you?re full. By waiting that long, you?ll give your brain a chance to realize that you don?t really need any more food.

10. Cheat on your diet - one thing I always make my clients promise is that they will cheat on their diet. The only thing I ask that they do is to cheat ONLY when they have planned to cheat. By planning when you are going to eat the foods you crave, you take back control of your eating habits.

This way you no longer "give in" to your cravings. You "reward yourself" for sticking to proper nutritional habits. Do this once or twice a week and you will feel far more in control of your eating.

In conclusion, if you follow even a few of these 10 easy tips in the long term, you will certainly notice a difference in your overall weight and health.

Last night I failed....... I was so hungry from just the Protein Bars that I backslid.......... I think I was punishing myself or something because get this......

I ate a doughy biscuit that dh had baked, w/hot apple butter.... WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING? I spent the next hour or so over the toilet...

I have got to get a handle on my cravings.....

but I guess the good thing is........ if I didn't have my band... I would of eaten 3-4 biscuits... instead of ONE and then paying for it.......

UPDATE:

Macy has 102.5 right now. She has started the sneezing and stuffy head and coughing (worse than before). She is so miserable. Poor baby.

My co-worker's daughter had the EXACT same thing over the weekend. Must be a bad bug going around!
......, but this is a bank foreclosure. Scott ended up getting this house for $290k. It is a huge 4 bedroom, w/ a pool and a great walk in laundry room.
Well, I guess if you're going to SQUAT, you might as well do it in a house with a pool!!! Good lawd!!! People are idiots. (ya'll are not "people", ya'll are violets)

Kat, you are the best grandma on the planet!! Can I come play at your house??? How fun!! I used to love making a tent with chairs and sheets!!

Yesterday was supposed to be my day off - holiday and all.

I ended up in the ER all day. My daughter had just started her shift at 10am yesterday. I had just talked to her right before she clocked in and she had just eaten some oatmeal and a banana, and she sounded just fine. They were having a meeting and her boss noticed that her eyes started to roll into the back of her head and her knees started to buckle. She was holding on to a clothing rack or she would have fallen, but her boss was able to catch her as she was going down, and laid her on her side. Kara said that she remembers everything tingling and she started to see black. She couldn't see anything and all she could hear was ringing in her ears. Next thing you know she's on the ground...her boss called me because Kara didn't want them to call 911. So I called her doctor's office and they said to take her to the ER, her doc wasn't in the office yesterday. Well we sat at the ER from 11am to 2am! All they did was an EKG, blood work and urinalysis. We sat in the waiting room ALL DAY, except when they called her back to do her EKG and labs. We got into a room at 12am, they came in a little while after that and listened to the baby's heartbeat with the doppler (first time she's heard it other than seeing it on the ultrasound). Then they told her that her labs looked ok, she's a little anemic, but they weren't too worried about it. Told her to make sure she's eating Snacks throughout the day and to drink plenty of Water, but she wasn't dehydrated. She has to follow-up with her doctor today at 9:30.

What concerned me is that her hands cramped up and got distorted right before she went down...seems to me it may be dehydration or something neurological...but they said she wasn't dehydrated. Didn't even start an IV on her...it was a waste of time in my opinion. And they didn't seem concerned about her hands cramping. I guess I'm just a paranoid mother/grandmother.

Anyway, I can't lay down right now because everytime I do, my head pounds. I have a headache that wants to go into a Migraine. I've been rotating the Tylenol and Motrin, but it's making me sick to my stomach. I'm going to try and lay down in a few minutes.

I'm going to stay home today and try to sleep this off. Have a good day Violets!

Whew, I go away for a weekend and everything changes!!

Is the new girl at the top of our forum HOLDING HER BOOB?!

Is she saying it's bigger than the apple?

I'm very confused.

Had a LOT of fun in Tunica this weekend, lost the money we brought, but it lasted till the last minute, which is all I can ask for lol.

I did bad on food, I was trying to binge. And by try, I mean I ate way too much and just spit it all up. I did this every single day! I hate that about me. I knew better, and I just didn't care. I wanted to binge, and I couldn't, so I did what I could. Silly me. Well I came home and 247lb on the scale, so I guess I didn't gain anything by all my sweet indulgences and rich food. One night we went to a fancy restaurant and I got veal oscar.. mmm.. veal pan seared with lump crabmeat and bernaise sauce on top, and 2 spears of garlic asparagus on top of that.. and it was all sitting in a lobster bisque. Food porn yet?

Then I had a creme brulee. I wasn't able to eat much of the veal, but all the crab meat, 1 asparagus and sauce.. and all of the brulee heh.

Before I got that, I indulged on the pre-meal rolls. And ended up getting sick in the bathroom.

I was in line for the bathroom, and I'm spitting up into my mouth, trying not to let it come out.. and this girl comes up (drunk) and is going on and on about how bad she has to pee. And I just smirk at her (she was wanting me to let her go first). SHE WOULD NOT SHUT UP.. and I couldn't open my mouth to talk. I debated (seriously) spitting up on her so she'd shut up.. haha!

DENISE YOU LOOK GREAT! WOOOWOOO you don't need the sexy dressing lessons!!!!

The morning show I listen to every morning.. Rick & Bubba.. well, this morning I found out Rick's 2 year old son drowned this weekend. So all morning they have been reciting scriptures, praying, talking about the mysterious ways God works, and how they are just greatful to him, etc. And I was just.. I dunno.. I'm religious, but I don't know how you can be greatful to God during a time like this. They're better than me! Anyway, very sad.. been praying for their family, I don't know how you get through something like that.

Behind at work & school, so can't post anymore.

I'll check back in later!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
