Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted May 9, 2008 Hello all, I haven't been able to get online the past few days while I am out of town. The way I have always gotten back on track is to go back to the liquid diet. I will probably have to do that when I get back from this trip. That's the great thing about the band and the sweet spot. I can easily do a week of liquids because I am really not hungry. Being out of town I have been eating out more than usual. Janet, I am so happy for you! I love working out with weights. I am sure that's what helped me get to goal too. Congratulations!

The steristrips are still on as is the clear plastic bandage but it's leaking. It's got me scared. Anyone experience anything similar? thanks.

sugrbear 1 Posted May 10, 2008 Hi, I am new to this thread, and No kittykoo I cannot relate to your situation but as a newer bandster maybe I can still help, with all that has been going on in your life is it possible you have not gone in for a maintence check on your band ? If not it is possible your fill is down allowing you to take in a little more than you have been noticing thus putting on the 10lbs that concern you. This was something that my Dr brought up to us about long term care. I can certainly see how this could happen given all you have been through. I've been told often long term bansters after reaching their goal will stop coming in for 6 months check ups forgetting their band fill levels can reduce from leakage, or those oh so popular hot flashes causing evaporation etc. even a small reduction can cause a change. I will keep good thoughts for you about this. I am sure you will recieve many suggestions to help you resolve the issue.
sugrbear 1 Posted May 10, 2008 tessa, I also use heating pads, but what has worked for me is hot mint tea, or biting into small, I do mean small candy mints, the sze of a pea, for some reason the mint helps move gas for me.
sugrbear 1 Posted May 10, 2008 Hi all, I just found this thread tonight and decided to join in the posts. I was banded March 28, 08. I started out at 214lbs and lost 10lbs the month before surgery just to get myself ready. Since surgery I have lost another 17lbs. I am 52 yrs old, I have 6 grandchildren all back on the east coast in Md and PA. I work out 3-4 x a week doing cardio mostly, was doing some upper body with a trainer but they pushed a little too hard, they forget we are not as young as they are when we start out. anyway, just suffered a bad shoulder muscle injury so Dr put me on 8-12 week restriction no upper body work. So far the band has worked for me as a great tool, it has helped me with cravings, mindless eating. I was never a fast food eater or even what they called a bad eater, just too high carbs and a stress eater. Yeah sucks eating too much good food is bad for you. But since my band, I don't feel the urge to go for food when I am not hungry. I am satisfied with so much less. I don't have any restriction and have been able to eat anything I have tried but so far, knock on wood, I haven't had the desire to push the envelope. I have a 10cc band, and I have 3cc in it. As long as I continue to lose slow and steady I feel like I will do just fine. I have gotten a lot of useful information from the sites and from going to group meetings. I enjoy sharing the things I learn and that work for me with others. I will be popping in and out of the site and hope to learn from many of you that have more experience living with the band. I will say this site is rather odd for me to figure out how to use. I have my email blocked due to the large number of emails I was getting flooding with, and it is not always easy finding these "threads" when you get back on. Any suggestions? Looking forward to talking with you .
SHARONCRIST1955 0 Posted May 10, 2008 Has anyone ever gotten sick. In the last few days I have vomited. I know it has been eating too fast. I think the pieces of chicken I ate were too big. I just want to know if anyone has experienced this before.

beckn 2 Posted May 10, 2008 Hey all you wonderful banders out there. I am being banded in two days and I am beside myself with excitment and anticipation. No one else really can understand how that feels but you. I have to be at the hospital Monday morning at 5:30. My sister is spending the night so she can drive me there and stay with me untill I come out of surgery. My husband will be there when I get to my room. (he makes me nervous before surgery so I am having him stay at home) Anyway, I have packed my hopital bag and put my Ipod in so I can listen to calming music in my room. I have no idea how I will react to the surgery but from what I have heard from all of you is that it is not too bad. Wish me luck and I will let you know how I am doing when I get home. YIKES!!!:thumbup: Becky
