Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I ended up in emergency and was tested negative for a blood clot. While examining me the doctor noticed that every so often was trying to catch my breath.

The resident surgeon my surgeon's team was on duty and mentioned this happened to other patients and it is diaphragm related and will go away within the next week.

For the belching problem I was prescribed Prevacid Solubetab. Otherwise I am doing fine and want to thank IndioGirl for Crystal Lite tip to go with my protien drink. The morning sunrise is great tasting.

I wish everyone well and I am a prayer warrior thus praying for the members of this group.

May Grace and Peace Be Unto You and I am living for Jesus too!

Toi

Hi toyster,

I hope you're feeling better and are resting up.

Thanks for the belching tip. I'm heading to the chemist right now to see if they stock them.

Best wishes.

Katy I really hope you get some answers soon. I can't even believe you're going through this and they can't find out why. It has to be so frustrating for you. If you're unfilled, you should be able to drink a Protein Drink without any problems. I can't wait to hear what you find out.

Big Hugs to you (((Katy)))

Hi Oregondaisy,

I don't understand either and although I think highly of my surgeon, I'm getting very cranky with him for leaving me like this for so long.

On Tuesday, I'm going to ring the radiology place in the hope that they just may be able to squeeze me in earlier. Monday is a Public Holiday for Australia Day.

They HAVE to find something that is causing all this discomfort. I hope I have massive burping fits while they're doing it too because they might find the reason for that too. LOL.

For dinner tonight, I had one small piece of broccoli,1 small baby potato and one small serve of sweet potato with gravy. Can't eat red meat anymore, so I don't try.

Ate slowly and thoroughly and enjoyed it very much but 3 minutes after I'd finished..........up it came. I don't want to put on any weight but this is ridiculous.

I'll certainly let you know the results as soon as I hear, in case it's helpful to someone else, although hopefully no-one has the same misfortune.

Best wishes.

Hi Toyster,

Tried at three chemists but none of them have ever heard of it. One looked on his computer as well with no luck. Is it a De-gasser? Is it on prescription only?

Best wishes.

katy I do believe it's listed as an acid reducer. It used to be a prescription here but most of that stuff is over the counter now. We need to find out the generic name for you, as I think the brand name may just be different for you.

What you should ask for is a "PPI", which is a "proton pump inhibitor" or an acid reducer.

Your pharmacy "chemist" should know what that is.

Here in the US, some are OTC (over the counter) some are still prsecription strength ( like Aciphex, which I used to take).

I know your health care system is different there in AU, but this is some of the problems we will face in the US if we change over to a national health care system, we all might be waiting too long to get tests that would we get within days here.

I watch this thread, but don;t post often, I hope you get help soon Katy.

Hi all

Thanks for all the info and the encouragement about getting back on track. Helped loads this week. Breaking some of the habits I had reformed that were detrimental.

Hope all is well with those of you going through trials. The not being able to get anything down is not the place to be either.

RE: getting Fluid out when you thought it was empty. I think that may be a factor of how the needle goes into the port and if it is totally in or not. I also wonder if the fluid in the band shifts periodically and that may be the reason why all the fluid didn't come out originally.

Sticking with the proteins/meats first and that is helping with the full sensation. Paying attention to how my pouch feels more often.

Keep up the good work all and I hope the trials are relieved soon for those of you having difficulties.

The band has little compartments and sometimes Fluid can get "caught" in them for a while. Then I guess it shifts later on, or something.

My fill is wearing off, but I'm doing my best to keep on track. :-)

Hi Everyone,

I am scheduled to have my surgery on 2/5. I started 2 days ago on the 2 week Slim Fast diet. It has not been easy. I have a headach, tired and moody. Is this normal? I did cheat and eat 2 slices of cheese a little while ago. I feel guilty and I am looking forward to going to work so I can stay busy and keep my mind off of it. This is a get thread for over 50. I was wondering since we are older will it take more time to loose?

Are you talking about the whey Protein? I cannot tolerate regular Protein Powder (Hard protein) so I use Whey Protein which is formulated for people like me. I buy the vanilla flavor because you can add it to any juice or food and it is very good tasting. I purchase mine from a health food store in Oak Lawn, IL

Google Jay Robb Whey Protein.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
