CONGRATS LONG! YOU GO GIRL! I hope you husband is safe. Layoffs are just starting to hit our area. Alot of the plant workers have been cut to 32hrs a week. Construction is still strong because of Ike.

I got a fill yesterday. It is tight. I can only eat a half cup at a time. I dropped some lbs from yesterday. Yippee!

Orea,

Tough news on the job front. My husband lost his job last year. He worked with Delphi and they closed his plant with 5,000 workers losing their jobs. The jobs were moved to Mexico. He got unemployment and tried to retrain through the state, but was considered too old at age 59. Sigh. We cut back and I carry the insurance and it's worked out OK. Things are slimmer, but also less stressful.

I'm thinking of you and your husband and praying for strength and courage to fight the fear that keeps rising up.

My very best to you. Hang tough.

Orea, you and your husband are in my prayers. We have been through the same situation (more than once). It is so scary. Try not to panic, though it is hard - the two of you will come out of this okay. He has been interviewing, so he has part of the job done - the resume and the contacts, etc. One of these will come through and it will all work out.

Be strong...

Thanks, ladies, your support and prayers are very much appreciated. The best case scenario is that he gets a great job that starts right after they pay him his severance pay. I'm going to hold that thought for him.

On the bright side, this tightened my up nicely. Maybe I'll drop a few pounds.

Charlene, glad your fill is giving you the much needed restriction. I still can only eat about 1/2 cup at a time most of the time though I notice it increasing. Congrats on the loss!!

Hi all. Nice to have this special place for us. Just tried to eat some turkey for lunch and up it came, after just a few well chewed bites. I can eat stuff like yogurt and Soup with never a problem. But so often food like meat and veggies cause me to PB and upchuck. It will start just after a few bites and I chew them up a lot. This is happening once a day, sometimes twice. Any one have this???? PB too muche_3_12.gif

Hi Sunshine,

Ohhhh yes.. I have not been able to eat meat... They didn't tell me that in the begining.. I feel like I am going to have a heart attack.. My heart pounds so hard and I get all sweaty and feel like I'm going to die... Does anyone else feel that.

I am thankful to find this site because I really feel all alone and not doing well..

Cindy

Wow, wasn't able to check on LBT for a couple days, so sorry to hear about the struggles you great people are having with medical issues, family dynamics, and job/economic uncertainty! Makes me put my daily struggles in perspective. This is always a tough time of year - it's great because of the wonderful Holidays, abut depression can get worse and usuallyl those year-end ecomonic woes, uncertainly about the future. This year is exceptionally tough! Best wishes and prayers to all of you!

Each day I check the financial reports and get more concerned about my husband's job in manufacturing, and even in health care we are seeing huge budget cuts and staff cutbacks. Yet, today we are deciding on a offer on our house which will allow us to move to a hobby farm before Christmas! We are concerned...seems like such a bad time to be taking on more debt. But, life needs to go on, this has been our dream, and we pray for continued jobs and the ability to handle the new resonsibilities and challenges of caring for our horses if this deal goes through. We've been in our home x 17 years, and this will be a huge change.

But, our housing issue is 'stress' that we brought on ourselves, compared to the stress that many of you are experiencing. Best wishes to you all.

We still have many things to be Thankful for, and next week I'll be sure to remind myself of that!

And, on a happy note, I am only 2 puonds away from breaking into Onderland, and I can't wait! Will be a tough food week w/ house guests coming as early as Tuesday, and all the feasting that will be going on next week! Glad my recent fill has been helping me.

Good morning all you wonderful people!

I too have not checked the boards for the past few days.....work has been busy!.....but wow! so many things happening here.....

First - to all who responded to my post about having doubts about the decision for LapBand.....Thank you all for your wonderful encouragement and wise advice! I am "back on the wagon" and eating healthy....doing the high Protein and low carb diet to get the 5% weight off before I see the doctor again (Dec 9).....Making the solid commitment to myself (and you all) to stay positive and to continue to eat healthy. I hope to be able to get on to the doc's January schedule.....or at the latest February. Also made an appointment to see the nutritionist on Dec 2.

Gypsy - thank you for sharing your story. Thank God that you and hubby survived that boating accident. I am sure it really has given you a whole new persepective on and appreciation for life. Every day is a gift. Every day we wake up is a new opportunity to live the life we were meant to live. Thanks for you most inspiring post.

Orea - so sorry to hear about hubby's layoff. I hope he lines something else up soon! I'm not sure if it's the older people or the younger people who should worry about their jobs. Low man on the totem pole might be the one to go first......BUT......the higher up person (older one) also makes more money and can be replaced with two younger ones.....Scary times. My husband and I are lucky in that we have secure jobs....and I feel so sad for those who are not so fortunate.

Katy - prayers to you that your recovery goes well. Sorry to say, but I think your Mum is a bit selfish......you need to take care of YOU, not her.

Have a great day all.......:smile2:

This is Boeing's approach to cost cutting: Get rid of the experienced people who are at the top of the pay scale. (Never mind that my husband has the productivity of at least three people. He's expensive so he has to go.) Stupid and short sighted.

As DH observed, look what that approach did for Circuit City!

You should be able to eat meat with the band. Are you too tight if all you can eat is softer stuff? That's not good. I eat some sort of meat at every meal. Only thing I have problems with is white meat chicken (drier) and some pork if it's too dry. Cut it up in tiny, pencil eraser size bites, and chew chew chew. It's important to get in your Protein so if you are not eating meat be sure you are watching your Protein intake. Good luck!

That's my husband, been at the company for 31 yrs, has 5 weeks of vacation, etc. Luckily his counterpart at the other airline they are merging with is in the same position. We aren't stressing out too much, feel that it is in the Lord's hands. Just ever so thankful we are back home in CO, have an almost totally paid for house (small mortgage) and have been working on getting our 'house in order' so to speak financially. But still we will need an income so scary times.

Since we are leaving town on Tues. hubby is working on our Christmas lights outside today, that and the fact that it's in the 60s out today. Who knows what the weather may be when we return. I just love it when the home is all decorated for the holidays. The extended family we are seeing on vacation next week has not seen me since last Thanksgiving many of them, so will be interesting.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
