AWESOME WEIGHT LOSS! :thumbup:CONGRATS! :smile2: Do you exercise? and what is your calorie intake? I am just interested in all of those who were banded before me, so I can stay on the right track.

Charlene,

Just accidentally found the PM you sent me a month or more ago!! Don't know how I missed it before this! So sorry!

Hi all. I got my band August the 8th. the 17th I left my home on a business trip. I received absolutely no guidance from the hospital... except ice chips the frist 24 hours and liquid diet for 2-3 weeks. I am feeling a little lost at the moment. I am living on Protein Shakes and baby food veggies. I find myself not hungry most of the time... but when it hits... oh my:drool:... I muster up the will power and drink some Water. My first question is.... when does the first fill usually take place... and does one start over with liquid diets? thanks for listening:confused:

Hi,

So surprised at your lack of support! Most of us have been given thorough post-op instructions that included 2 wks Clear Liquids, 2 wks "full" liquids, 2 wks "Mushies" prior to going to hard Protein and more normal foods. So, by now you would be on "full" liquids such as creamed Soups, cream of wheat with lots of milk, Protein Drinks. Mushies are a little thicker and that's when my "Magic Bullet" got a real workout. My guidleines were to eat about 1/2 cup of food 5-6X a day. First fill usually is at about the 6 week point. I think I had to wait a little bit longer than that and I was chomping at the bit!

it took me a year of diligent work to get my surgery. call cal and call some more at least weekly to check the progress of your surgery date and where you are at with insurance approval if its not done yet. stay on it, for your own good.

You are RIGHT ON!!

It didn't take me that long, but I, too, had to be very diligent with my phone calls, etc. to get my surgery date!

Congrats to the new bandsters. Phyl and Indio....love reading your posts. You are so inspirational to many of us. I finally lost another pound (thank God!). I've had a cold and the weight loss is going so slow lately....last month, I only lost 1/2 pound! I'm hanging in there and staying with low carb, per my doctor's instructions, but I have to admit, it is sometimes frustrating to lose this slowly. Guess my body just likes hanging on to all this fat! Sooner or later, it has to come off. I am walking several miles a day (at least), and my calories are never over 800, and often under 500. I drink tons of Water, except for the past few days, with this cold and sore throat...the water and everything has been hard to get down.

Keep up the great work, everyone.

Nancy

Hi Everyone.....I was banded July 10th and I received my first fill on Aug 11th. My next appt is Sept 11th so I'll probably get another fill. Sometimes I can eat and sometimes I'm not hungry - but if I don't eat then I feel a little nauseated. I'm losing more inches than pounds so far. I can tell it in my clothes. Finally I feel I'm at the point that I can use my lapband as the tool it's intended for. Sometimes I forget....and I feel like food is stuck so I still have to work on my CHEW CHEW CHEW!! Hope everyone else is going good in their weight loss. I love reading the different posts. I'm glad we have this site to turn to and the support of so many bandsters. TTYL..........

What are you testing? did we pass?? :tt2:

Seriously, just got off the phone with the dr. office again. My rash is WORSE!! GRRRR I am to try benedryl now, I was to circle it with a pen so they can see if it's growing tomorrow. And I go in tomorrow. Dr. is in surgery all day today. It's worse than that horrible mosquito bite that just bugs the heck out of you. I feel like I am going to go insane from the itching. Anyone know what MRSA looks like? That's my big fear. One incision is much worse but a couple others seem a bit better. If it wouldn't be for that, I'd be feeling so good again. It's been 3 weeks today since Gall bladder surgery and next Thurs. will be 3 mos since banding. I want to get on with my new healthy life! At least the drive down tomorrow should be incident free, the convention is over tonight!!!!! The busiest section of the freewy in the entire state, is going to be shut down tonight during the busiest time, the evening rush, just for this convention and the fact they moved the speech to the football stadium. Glad I am not down that way today. But overall I think they've done a good job in informing people and providing alternate routes etc. And security has seemed top notch.

Man, Janet that sure was a good speech you gave a few back. I will say AMEN to that. today is Tuesday and I had coffee and chocolate Unjury for Breakfast. lunch was a ham sandwich on light wheat bread and string cheese. Supper was a cup of homeade chilli. Was perfectly content but dont think I got enough Protein in so I am going to drink a Protein Drink tonight to make sure. I did a two mile walk today and man I went fast. I don't think I am getting enough calories in but I wasn't hungry today at all.

BEckyo:smile:

Just wondering if you have problems eating bread. Tomorrow is my big day, the day that I can eat beef, pork, anything I want. I love sandwiches, but I have heard that bread was hard to swallow.

I can't do bread. I tried a hamburger bun just the bottom part and that was a no go. Guess it's a good thing because nutritionist doesn't want me eating it anyway. But I have heard that toasted is easier to get down if you do have trouble, I've not tried that yet.

I have been starving. I do not have my first fill until the 10th and today has been a really bad day. Some days I am able to handle it, but today was not one of them. I am trying to stick to Proteins when I want something extra as that seems to satisfy me the most. With restriction from the fill do you continue to get this hungry? I feel so discouraged today.

You poor thing. I was banded Aug. 4th. Had my first fill Tues, the 26th. He put 4cc's in. I have a total of 5 ccs now, since he put 1 cc in during surgery. I am not hungry at all, its great so far.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
