Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Recommended Posts

I too can't wait for the Biggest Loser to be back on TV.

Watching the Olymics I am tired os seeing all those physically fit, skinny young people,,,lol But they do so well at each of their chosen sports. and the time they have dedicated to the sport!

I heard on the news this morning that Phelps eats 12,000 calories A DAY!!!!! and it was stated the average person would gain 15# a week if we ate like that..OMG

Does anyone know the proceedure code the doctors use to submit claims to your insurance co? I had surgery in MX and they don't know. I found v 45.86 but because that is not the usual 5 digit proceedure code I don't know if it is right..Help!

Gwen, please let me know what happens with you. I don't have purple spots, but I do have a bumpy rash and the pcp told me it was due to my weight.

Good luck,

Nancy

I wonder why I can eat bread.

The other day I had half of a Mcdonald's cheese burger.

Menopause is what made me gain weight too. I joined a gym and exercised my brains out for 3 years and didn't lose an ounce. That is why I got the band!

Losing my husband in '94 is what made me gain weight. Menopause happened along the way (I think), but I was so busy medicating myself with junk food (and I was grieving, too), that I was oblivious if it even happened. Like Long, I had a hysterectomy and still have my ovaries. As for bread, I haven't tried it yet, as I am afraid of it. I have so much trouble losing anything, even when I am really good, that I fear I would gain weight with bread (or most carbs).

I agree with you, Charlene. I love the Protein Water. strawberry kiwi is good, too. I drink one every day or two, along with tons of crystal lite and Water. ... slosh, slosh....

Nancy

i am always sloshing. every afternoon i drink a Protein iced tea, 15gm protein. but i do have the special K powder., the extra fiber from it does prove to be helpful

Ooh, the sloshing reminds me... the kids come back Monday and I will then face the teacher's perennial conundrum.....do we drink all the Water we want, knowing that breaks for the bathroom are rare and not often coming, or do we not drink much all day and then try to get in a ton of Water after school? Hmmmm.....:) I try to find a compromise and never pass a bathroom without using it! Sorry if this is TMI for some, but teachers will understand....

I am right there with you. Last year my first break was 11:45 A.M. That was 4 hours after students came into class. It was hard on my bladder last year, but if I get that same schedule this year, I will need to go to school wearing a catheter! :)

Oh, Mary, you poor thing! This year I am doing resource, so in between running from class to class, I will also run to the bathroom in between! I hope to get in a lot of exercise this school year! LOL!

H, I'm an Aussie from Western Australia and had my 2nd banding on the 9th June 2008. Apart from really bad wind/gas in the chest area and sore spots (had an open banding) around the scar and the port, my main concern is feeling very weak and lack enthusiasm for anything. Do others have this problem? My surgeon didn't tell me to take Vitamins or anything for this but I'm wondering if I should. I've lost 18.5 kilos, not sure what that is in pounds.

Looking forward to any replies. Katydidi.

To all of the teachers---and their bladders! Good luck and have a wonderful year! As a retired teacher, I know that every day is an adventure. Remember that the students don't care what you know--they want to know that you care. You are creating memories for your kids--so make them good ones. Don't sweat the small stuff--decide to enjoy each day. I loved teaching--so I never went to "work."

And the retirement and pension benefits are sooo worth it!

PS DON'T EAT SCHOOL LUNCHES!! I swear the game was "how many fat grams and bad carbs can we fit on a styrofoam plate?"

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
