Hi Flowers,

The pills I have and have had are in capsule form. Not sure if I can open them and empty them in glass of Water or not. I'm thinking, not.

Thanks.

How about opening up the capsules and taking the medicine mixed in with some Sf pudding. I did that.

I'm sure that would work but not sure if I could have pudding every day or always remember to mix it with something. Did you do this with Probiotics and could you taste anything different? Thanks

I used it for my blood pressure medicine. You could also use yogurt. I didnt taste the medicine at all. Give it a try. My exforge is a large bp pill, i cut it in half. Hopefully this time next year I will be off my BP meds.

Flowers, that is awful about your car. I would be freaking out too! No wonder you're stressed.

I put nuskin over my incisions. It's like liquid bandage. I don't know if that is a help to anyone or not.

I take probiotics. Mine is a powder that I keep in the fridge and mix with Water. Thank goodness. I don't think I could get any more pills down.

Take pills with warm water. Warm opens the band. whatever you can cut up, make them smaller. I have some little capsules that sometimes come back up. I just take them again with a lot of warm water. I used to be able to take a handful of pills all at once. Now it's one at a time, a lot of warm water and wait to see if it's stuck.

Hi All!

Been a while since I posted. It has been a long hurricane season, things have been crazy at work. Still busy with the after effects but things are slowing down.

I've started a 3 month supervised while waiting to see my surgeon. Reading here when i can. I've read a couple of books. I've been following the south beach plan with a few modifications, my pcp seems to think it is closest to the bandster lifestyle. I started walking 6 days a week. I alternate between walking 2 miles and changing the intensity of my walks. It's working for now.

Had a small get together for my DD (turning 30) and her friends last night and a long time friend who i haven't seen for a couple of months noticed my weight loss. Was wonderful to hear someone say those words!! Sure helped keep me on plan last night.

I'm amazed at how well everyone is doing! I can't wait till i'm officially one of you!

Gotta run, DD will be here for Breakfast and then grocery shopping and meal prep for the week.

Hugs, Pat

My husband retired from the Air Force. We are both from Ft. Worth. We reside in Grand Prairie since his job now requires him to live in Dallas County.

i don't know if any of you guys have tried this but, i really don't like vanilla drinks so i put a few drops of flavoring in my drink. i've tried maple and rootbeer, they are really good.

I dont like vanilla either. I have a bunch of SF syrups from my low gi diet days Im using. I add one of the berry ones usually, raspberry, peach, cherry, and then either carmel or chocolate to the Protein cans. Almost as sweet as a dessert. Im saving them for when I get my next fill, need to make the Protein Shakes from powder more often.

You are right, need to get motivated and have those Protein Drinks and make them more appetizing.

Welcome Flowers !! :crying:

So sorry to hear about your cruise and damage to your car. That is so sad.

Where are you located? I'm in Grand Prairie, which is in Dallas County.

Who is your Dr?

Im in Richardson. I used a doctor near Medical City I googled and got, cant remember his name for the rash.

Sounds like a lot of Texans here.

Hi AthinnerDenise,

Can you tell me where you get the powder probiotics and what the exact name is called and who puts it out? I like the option of taking something besides a pill and having something in place of yogurt sometimes. Thanks!:crying:

Trying to catch up on two pages of posts! Bad internet connection here in RV park where we are now settled in for the winter. It's been down for days so I'm lugging my laptop to park library a couple of times a day to do email and catch up on LBT posts, play my silly Facebook games, etc!

Seems like if you don't visit your threads every day or so you stop getting the emails! I've been able to read the posts on my Blackberry and even reply when I have the patience to type with my thumbs!! But I sure missed a lot of these 50+ posts!!

You're right Phyl. I have been out of town for a few days, and did not receive any emails for this thread or Janet's mentoring group. I've been gone several days at a time before but still received the emails. I'm wondering what was different.

Ah well, one of life's mysteries. They should all be so easily fixed...

Good luck to all of you who have just had surgery. I'm not looking forward to those first few days, but they pass and you will be feeling better soon. Flowers - the rash sounds really distressing. I am so sorry you have had such a stressful time. This should be the time for you to be able to relax and heal. I hope you will be feeling better soon and have Allstate under control. If you can do that, we will all be beating down your door for your secret!

Seems like a real jungle out there these days. I've quit watching the news. I figure I have control over only those things I can actually change. These days that is not much. I try very hard to push the rest of it out of my mind and stay busy with activities that occupy my mind and my hands. I believe exercise - esp walking - can help with that, too. This time of year nature has such a beautiful palette for us to enjoy. I hope all of you can take some time to enjoy it.

God bless,

Hi Flowers,

I have felt the same way, so it's not only you. I suffer quite often with a rash under my belly, especially in the summertime. My doctor has given me a cream called Bactroban 2% Cream 15G to use 3 times a day, plus another Elocon Cream 0.1% to use at night. Surprisingly, results started straight away and I've been very pleased. The Bactroban cost $20.95 for the small tube but for the relief has been well worth it. Can't remember how much the other one cost. Not sure if they're under the same names over there though as I'm in Western Australia. Best wishes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
