sagreenia 0 Posted August 26, 2010 Lizalee, Thanks for replying to a total newbie, I know you sound like someone who is going to get back at it. I know I am in for the battle of my life, I have fought fat since I was a teenager, like so many others I lost and gained and lost and gained and then about age 35 it was only gaining, My top wt was 268 at surgery 236, I am 5'1 and so its more than 100 over. I know it will be easy at first and then may get so hard to maintain or lose. I explored RNY but just could not do that for me. I commend you for stepping up again and will send positive vibes your way for you to live your best life. keep in touch and may the road rise to meet you. I will keep you all posted. Welcome to you "Newbies"!! Glad to have you join us! I am 5' tall and started at 327. I still need to lose about 50 lb. Then some plastic surgery and I should be at a reasonable weight. On a cross country RV trip... WA to NY and then OK and end up in CA for the winter. Big family wedding today and busy, busy, busy for the two weeks we'll be here. So get on LBT when I can, but not much the last week or so!
barneygirl 0 Posted August 28, 2010 BOOBS, ok now that I have your attention(just kidding) What do you all think of a boob lift and a little size added after 50? Do you think it would be worth it? I mean who will see them? I am not ready yet but w/in the year I hope. Is there anyone here who has or would do it? I am so confused. Thankyou in advance. jbflorida 1 Posted August 29, 2010 Barney--I had my arms lifted and since I was going to be under, I decided to have a boob lift and a small implant--same size bra, but fuller and cleavage! Watch out! No one sees; I did it for me!
ifyourstomachoffendsyou 1 Posted August 29, 2010 I can only dream of any plastic surgery. No dollars. Only lost 80 lbs. Could never lose enough for insurance to pay for anything. I'm at goal. Under my maximum BMI. So, I tuck extra skin into my bra, wear 3/4 length sleeves, use a bra with a good lifter on the bottom, and buy clothes that drape the stomach and hide the flap. But if that's what you want, go for it. Cheri
sagreenia 0 Posted August 29, 2010 I know in the future i would love to have a boob lift when the wt is gone and I will definitely need a Tummy Tuck, but I kind of am not sure if I would do it because I have heard the recovery for the tummy work is not fun at all. the cost also can be staggering. I am just not sure and since I was banded only 11 days ago, it will not be a worry for quite awhile. But if you want it and your doc thinks it's safe why not if you can afford it... I would rather spend the $$$ on the face - that's what pple see - a good pair of Shapewear is just as good as a TT ;0) and a good bra just as good as a lift - but the whole world sees our faces ;0)

MsShay 0 Posted August 30, 2010 I am with you Indo Girl. I am considering a face lift for my 60th and I figure I can hide the rest with the proper clothing and good support. I was told that my insurance would pay for a breastlift and Tummy Tuck but I have to demonstrate that I really really need it. Who knows.
higgikd1 0 Posted August 30, 2010 Hey, all! I went for a plastic surgery consultation a few years ago (was still fat then, too!), but for the cost, I decided to restore an old MGB that I had stored for 20+ years. Will STILL get the plastic surgery done eventually and am all in favor of "better living through surgery..." if it is what someone wants and can afford.
Freckles 0 Posted August 30, 2010 Hi Indigo, I am 55 and just going through the beginning of getting set for getting approved. I am scared and wonder if I The therapist said I am not ready and I have to go through at least 6 sessions of therapy before he will release me for surgery, but I have been reading lots of negative stories about people having their bands removed. At my age I wonder if it would be better for me to have rny rather than the band? If I am starting to be scared because of reading other people's stories, should I still pursue WLS, or just throw in the towel? Thanks for any advice you can offer. I chose you because we are the same age. hunny, I had my first band at 59, which sadly developed a leak, At 62 I had my second band and I have lost almost 4 stone. I would get it done again if this one failed, best thing I ever did. Dont be put off by people, if you feel the band is right for you, then go for it. Good luck!!:cursing:
