That's right, Orea.........just keep on keepin on. Keep moving. I always stand on the scripture"All things work for the good for those who love God". Romans 8:28. There is a job for your husband and God is working out the details. So, be ready.

Well, we are packed and ready for DH's gastric bypass tomorrow. Please keep us in your prayers. I think his surgery is in the early afternoon so it will be a long day. I will check in when we get home.

Wishing the best to your DH and yourself, Charlene. Keep us informed. Hang in there....you sort of know what he is in for but on a larger scale on his end. Prayers are with you both.

I'm new to chatting and to the Lap Band. I just completed 1 month post band and had a mini-melt down in the doctors office. My weight loss for the month was 14 pounds. However, now I am at a plateau. One doctor is upset at me because I haven't lost 10% of my body weight since surgery. My surgeon says I'm making excellent progress.

I'm tired of people who think/say they are being supportive and talking about how the pounds will just fly off like nothing; while I'm still on pureed food and 5-600 calories a day. They aren't "flying" anywhere.

Any words of wisdom?

Oh, my! Don't get discouraged ALREADY!! This is LapBand and NOT bypass... and the doctor who is upset with you needs to understand the difference. NO, the pounds will not FLY off with LapBand. It's a slow steady process and we have to hang in there. Plateaus will come and go. Keep plugging along! The pounds WILL come off as long as you follow the bandster rules. 500-600 calories per day is NOT enough and may actually stall your weight loss. When I first started this journey, my clinic's dietitian chewed me out when my calorie intake was that low. She had me bump it up to 900-1000. Our bodies will sometimes go in to starvation mode if we're not getting enough calories. 14 lb your first month is very good. Most doctors say the initial phase is a recovery phase and not to worry about weight loss initially. You are still on mushies... are you eating approx. 1/2 cup 6X a day?? What are you eating? Are you getting enough fluids? Are you doing some walking or some kind of exercise?

YOU CAN DO THIS!!

We're here to help.

Don't get discouraged!

Thank you for your quick response. I've been trying to stick to a 1/2 cup of food, 4 times a day with Water in between meals. Exercise is 30 minutes of bicycling every day.

Certainly! I think your surgeon is right and that you're doing great! I also agree with Phyllser that you are probably not eating enough. As I understand it, you are in a knind of "neutral phase" of not gaining or losing until your first fill. You are supposed to be healing and maybe just losing a little bit. Please don't get discouraged. I was banded on 5/22 and have lost about the same as you. I have taken this opportunity to eat healthier foods and turn my whole family on to better quality eating. Tonight I got take-out Chinese and asked for everything to be cooked with minimal sauce and low oil. I did not tell my husband or kids. They didn't even notice except for saying that the food tasted "fresher." This is the beginning of a life change. Enjoy your journey to wellness. We are all here for you!

Raw: Welcome and visit here often. This is a great group of people on this board. I would have never been able to lose the weight i did without the support of this board and wonderful christian ladies. Keep your calories around 900-1000 cals and you will do great. Keep coming back here though and read as much as you can. This was a life saver for me. You're in my prayers

Oregon: I am soooooooo sorry to hear about your dad. I lost my father very suddenly a long time ago. As each day passes you will learn to cope and it becomes tolerable, but it's never OK. My dear father has been gone 24 years and to this day I miss him. Cherish your memories and you'll carry him with you.

My prayer for you, is that God will wrap his loving Fatherly arms around you and give you peace.

All the best. Keeping you in my prayers..

Well, we are back home......no surgery. DH got all set up to go in and then Dr. Davis noticed an abnormality in his blood. He did more blood work and his levels were such that he was at risk for bleeding. So, now, he is going to a blood doctor and get to the source of the problem. Dr. Davis said in many cases he can give a medicine that will normalize the blood problem.

So, we headed out to eat. After being on a shake diet for two weeks he could not eat much. Welcome to our world! Thanks for the prayers and encouraging words. We will do this again.........hopefully this summer.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
