I go to the gym. I hated curves. I hated the music they played and I hated using the same machines over and over in a circle.

I love they gym. My gym has all the cardio machines hooked up to the tvs so I can watch tv while I work out. I also really enjoy the classes they have.

I was in the hospital 3 nights. My surgery was Wed. 4-29. I got home on 5-2. I went back to work on the next Tues. I could have gone back to work on Monday but there were some things I need to get done at places that aren't open in the daytime.

I am on full liquids. I did Clear Liquids for 10 days. I move to mushy this sat. He said if I do fine on full liquids I can move to mushy at a week instead of 10 days.

I feel great! Have already lost 10 lbs so that makes me happy.

Does the ticker work now!?!? If so, this is what has been happening since 10/14/08. And I have a question for the group here, what do you do for an evening snack? Please, no fruit or shakes. Thanks for the suggestions!

I usually have sf Jello, or sf pudding or sf fudsicles or popsicles. I noticed today that crystal light came out with popsicles.

They did -- I bought some at the grocery the other night -- I haven't tried them yet; but when I do, I'll let you know how they are -- there are 2 different flavors in each box - and at Albertson's there were 3 different boxes - so 6 flavors -- I bought 2 boxes (they were on sale 2/$4)... I may have one tonight as I actually have the house to myself ... DBF is at a meeting and our company (his daughter and her boyfriend) headed down to Fremont Street for the evening. I'll keep you posted! LOL

Okay - I just had a raspberrylemonade crystal lite popsicle -- they are VERY good ... think I may be stocking up on them (thank goodness for the freezer in the garage!) while they are on sale ... once DBF finds them, they won't last as long -- he figures if one is good, two is better and believes that thought process is okay since they are "sugar free" :-)

In the box with the raspberrylemonade is lemonade. I also got raspberry iced tea (I think) and peach tea ... I'll keep you updated on how they taste if anyone is interested.

The PS I got was a brachioplasty--arm lift. I was able to tighten most of my 57 year old body, but those batwings ? Hated them. So now, I am wrapped from wrist to shoulder. I know I will have scars, but it was a trade-off.

While I was under, I also got a Mastopexy (breast lift) and a small implant added.

I didn't have children so I spent the money on me!!! hahaha

I can shower this evening...I am anxious to see the results when I take off the bandages. AND nervous!!

I'm having band on June 1, but my daughter had hers last year and is going for first PS June 4, lower body lift, breat reduction and fat implants into but. The arms and back fat/skin and a small implant will be next year. Very nervous about her being on an operating table for 8 hours but the doctor is a very well known and reputable doctor so I just have to trust that everything will be okay.

Good luck to you. The arms might be the only thing I will do and may be able to do the one where the incision is actually in the armpit instead of down the arm.

Again, congrats and speedy healing

Trisha

I got the raspberry and peach tea as well. I thought they were very good. I will be looking for them on sale. I can't remember what I paid at Walmart, but I am pretty sure it was over $3 a box and it was the small box.

I am so glad to find a box of something that has no orange! Popsicle brand has orange in the regular flavor and the tropical flavor. I love the pineapple ones in the tropical box.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
