Something is going on...

I just received notification by email for your message, Phyll. I have not checked UserCP yet. I have not received an email notification for several days till this one. Hope they have everything corrected by now.

I also hope everyone is doing well this Tues morning (Korea time). I know it's still Mon night for most of you. So far I have not called DH in the middle of the night, but did call a friend at about 10:30pm the other night. She sounded sleepy... I probably woke her. I had a sudden question pop into my head and picked up the phone without thinking. Thank goodness I am not waking anyone up when I post on LBT!

Hi Everybody,

I was catching up on posts and wanted to say Hi! The grass here in WIs is finally turning green and the daffodils and tulips are FINALLY coming up! We stopped at our old house today, and picked up some perennials that I had dug/sunk into pots last fall before we moved. It was fun to see my old gardens again - I miss my flowers (I had a lot of them over the years - my favorite was a patch of bloodroot that is blooming right now...happy to see my cuttings were still alive!) Now I've got stuff to plant here at the new place, and I feels SO good to be back in the dirt again.

I had all but given up gardening in recent years, due to two reasons: 1 being that I was always gone with the girls to their boarding stable and 2. I couldn't bend over or squat to weed or plant without nearly passing out!

It's so cool to be able to kneel down and weed and bend over and plant! It's amazing - I didn't realize how much I missed this kind of thing! And now that the beasts are home, the girls can ride while I weed.(not much of a trade off, but they do let me ride their horses now AFTER they have them tired out and "safe" for old mom. )

We are putting in an outdoor riding arena in the next few weeks, and I'm excited to see the girls really work them and ride myself a bit more. They want to show in dressage and cross country in the new couple months, and need to start getting them in shape again.

I had a half-cc removed from my band a week ago. It's amazing how that tiny bit of Fluid makes such a difference. I was having so much PB's and uncomfortable so often - I just didn't want to keep living like that, especially with fresh veggies from the garden coming soon. Also, made it more desirable to fill up on ice cream and Cookies 'cuz they didn't get stuck. Unfortunately, I can eat mroe now --- it's like freedom again. However, I have been making a point of eating healither and making better choices. I have lost a couple pounds and am delighted about it! I'm back below where I left off before Christmas, and with the extra physical activity, loosing weight slowly but surely.

This new lifestyle sure beats weighing 339 pounds anyday!!! Those of you just starting out - wishing you the joys I discovered by finally being able to loose this weight!

Enjoy!

HI, First a PB is a productive burp. Some may call it sliming. Have not experience it yet and I have been banded for almost 3 months.

But my other concern is the fluids. It has been really hot here in the east and I work outside. I am really finding it hard to follow the drinking rules in this heat. I am ready to give up eating solids just so I can drink constantly. I think I would feel better. I could drink three or four gallons a day in this heat. This was something I did not even think about until it happened. Anybody know how to deal with it?

Peach

How long do you have to wait to drink after eating - I can drink up until I eat then I have to wait 30 minutes after eating to drink again - I live in the desert - so I know about the heat - don't have your humidity but I got the heat - it doesn't interfer with my drinking - I have a bottle of Water - crystal lite or ice tea with me all the time - I just sip all day long - I only eat 3 meals so that's only 1.5 hrs out of my 17 hrs day (waking hours) of not being able to drink...

I was hoping some of you desert people would respond. I am supposed to stop drinking 30 minutes before I eat and then wait an hour after I stop eating. That is about a 2 hour nondrinking period 3x a day = 6 hours. And I sleep over 8 hours. I could be outside in the heat for over 10 hours doing physical labor. I drink constantly when I can and that is usually just fine but with this heat I get so dehydrated - I never have to go to the bathroom and that is not good. I had not anticipated this problem. Maybe I should have a Liquid Protein lunch so I don't have to stop drinking. If I eat a solid Protein B and a good dinner as well that may help. What do you think?

Another thought - As I have no restriction now, fluids go down very easy, what happens when I have restriction and I can only sip small amounts?

Well you may just have to adjust the drinking to compensate for your working outside - I would clear it with your doc first but change it up to 30 minutes before & after meals that you can't drink. You are going to have to constantly sip Water

With restriction you can't gulp water - that's the hardest to get use to - I miss gulping water when I am thristy... If I forget (which I do) you get the golf ball in the chest feeling - your band will remind you..

Again clear with your doctor - you will find out what works for you...

I agree that you definitely need to get more fluids in. (Dehydration can tighten you, too.)

While I am all for following your surgeon's instructions, only you can know what really works for you. Many of us find that we can drink right up to a few minutes before eating, and it doesn't affect our hunger or make the food slide through any faster. I prefer to do this and then possibly wait longer than my surgeon's suggested 30 min. after eating to resume sipping my liquids. This works better for me.

Would someone please point me in the right direction on finding the instructions for getting a ticker? Thanks!

I was always told you can drink right up until you start eating. Then I can't drink for an hour after. It will be the same with the sleeve.

I am in the hospital and one of the doctors loaned me his lap top. The staff and care here is just wonderful. I feel pretty good but have a lot of left shoulder pain that I never had with band surgery. Dr. Aceves told me he fixed a hiatal hernia so he had to blow me up with extra gas.

I didn't sleep well last night because of the pain in the shoulder but they were great about giving me pain meds. I hope tonight is better.

I am glad that I never have to worry about restriction ever again.

Oh and pb and slime are 2 different things. Slime is when your mouth fill up with Water as your body is trying to get the food to pass that is stuck. Pb is what happens if it does not get unstuck. It comes back up.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
