Apples2 19 Posted March 2, 2009 So are you saying that that sensation is reflux? Just not sure what reflux is or feels like. I did have lots of butter on that popcorn. Dh got a little trigger happy with the butter dispenser. Just noticed this post, Long. I know with me the reflux started when I had started having gallbladder problems 15 yrs ago. Never did get rid of it until hernia was repaired at the time of LB surgery. I know I want to be as careful as can be to never get it back. Yours does sound like reflux...backing up in the esophagas. (sp?). I know mine was usually triggered by something fatty. Hope you don't have any more bouts and if you do, talk to your doc. Nothing to mess with and problems only get worse if unchecked. Take care, my friend.
Apples2 19 Posted March 2, 2009 What an encouraging site! So glad to have found others in this stage of our journey! I live in Central Texas, am 59 years old, the mother of 4 adult children and their spouses and the very proud grandma of 19 wonderful grandchildren.I was banded in Monterrey, Mexico, by Dr. Zapata, on 12/2/08. I'm very new to all of this still. I've lost 20 pounds, mostly in the first 4 weeks; and, despite 2 fills, have remained mostly unrestricted since the middle of January. Guess that qualifies me for "lap band hell". I'm scheduled for my 3rd fill on 3/11/09. What scares me is that my weight is constantly trying to go up; I lose the same 3 pounds over and over and don't progress beyond that. I was feeling incredibly guilty that I hadn't dropped more weight until I started reading this forum. I finally realized that without restriction, I'm still right where I was before the surgery. I just need some folks to get real with, who understand my struggles with food, and can encourage me to reach my goal. Hopefully, I will be able to offer others support as well. Anne Welcome, Anne...first off...how are you getting all those grandchildren????????? My two are just not producing. I am looking forward to the day. Have two grand puppies so will make that work for now. Dog Grandma spoils them rotten. Guess it will all happen in due time. Don't want to push if they are not ready. You will get to where you need to be, Anne. You will eventually know when you have the right amount of fills and it will all be a bit easier. You will still need to keep your food choices in check. Keep junk out of the house and quick snack foods ready to grab. I.E.: 100 cal popcorn, beef Jerky, cut up and ready to eat veggies, low cal dip, etc. One of my fav dips for veggies is: 1 cup fat free mayo 2 Tbls minced onion 1 Tbls minced garlic 1/2 cup fat free sour cream 1 Tbls dill weed I keep this on hand. Keeps in frig for over a week. If you have healthy choices on hand, you are less likely to "cheat". SF Jello is always a good thing to grab. Reach for a glass of Water when you are hungry and wait 15 minutes. Hunger usually passes. I always tried things like this when hunger hit and I knew it was not time to eat: Go for a walk, take a bath, brush your teeth, call a friend. Good luck to you. Keep on posting and asking questions. None of us here got through this alone. I am in the maintenance stage and still get on every day just to check in.

orea15 0 Posted March 3, 2009 Smitty this is not a good thing. You need to talk to your doctor about this. I agree, the more I have thought about it, the more concerned I have gotten. Please. please see your doctor, and report back!
Katydid 0 Posted March 3, 2009 Katy: I pasted them into my signature box Hi Livin4Jesus, OK, I'm a complete novice at this stuff, so you'll really have to spell it out for me please? I couldn't even get the little chart thing to stay on the post. What and where is the signature box and does it show you what to do? Many thanks.
Katydid 0 Posted March 3, 2009 Congratulations Mominliv13 and Oreo, Fantastic weight loss. Good on you both. Welcome Smitty, Do not let these problems carry on. Please see your doctor and don't let him/her just scoff at it and let it go. These things can be extremely dangerous as I've found out. Things can go unbelievably wrong, believe me. My operation is on the 9th March and I've been told to be prepared!! This site is really helpful and very supportive, so keep posting and Best Wishes. Great2BThin 5 Posted March 3, 2009 Katy, if you do a search on the boards here, I know there is a thread with detailed instructions on how to post a ticker. I am terrible at explaining it, but you do it in the 'edit your signature' area. MominLV, congrats on the loss!! I know you post every monday your losses, why don't you post more regularly? Would love to get to know you more! I used to live in Henderson very near Green Valley HS, Sunset station was being built when I lived there and opened the weekend we moved away. What and where is the signature box and does it show you what to do? Many thanks. There is an EXCELLENT "ticker tutorial" with photos, but until I find it, you might try this: Here's the link: Weight Loss - Diet Ticker Select your ticker ruler - Click Next Select your ticker slider - Click Next Configure Your Weight Tracker Ticker - Click Next Cut and paste code for most boards and web pages: Use the address in " bbCode" In this website go to User CP, then in Settings and Options on the left side click on edit signature, paste code information into the white message box and you can either click on save signature or preview signature to see it before you save it. Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted March 3, 2009 That was sure nice of you Phyl. I am so lazy, I don't even bother to change my sig line. I am sure I will be changing it within a couple of months though, as I am pretty sure I am going to get a revision from band to sleeve.

I am sure I will be changing it within a couple of months though, as I am pretty sure I am going to get a revision from band to sleeve. Hi! Well, bored and on the couch in my jammies since I can't seem to shake this crud I picked up when I flew home to WA for a few days a couple of weeks ago. People are always needing help with their tickers and it's hard to find that tutorial post, so this time I bookmarked it for easier access next time someone needs help. Wow! Revision to sleeve.. a big step, but I know, Janet, for one always says if she ever had a band problem that's what she would do, too. I've read up on it a little, but not yet that familiar with it. Best of luck to you with that. I think I read a post on another board from someone who was having band problems.. lived in your area and used your surgeon. But that's all I remember!! Claiming another senior moment! LOL
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted March 3, 2009 I am excited about it. It's a painful surgery because of having the port removed, but it will be worth it. I will never have to worry about a fill or unfill ever again. I wish I had known about it in the first place. I have to think that if I hadn't found Lap Band Talk, I would not have found all the wonderful people I've found here. Alex has added the sleeve section to this board, but at the time, it wasn't here. I love this board, and I am thankful for all the wonderful friends I've made here. I wish I could meet more in person, but I have had the wonderful experience of meeting some of my lap band friends in person, which would have never had if I had the sleeve from the beginning. It's an expensive way to have to go, being self pay both times, but it will be worth it in the end!
