Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Recommended Posts

Happy, I agree with Dee Dee, my sugars have been great since banding. The highest in the am (when I have my highest) has been 125. Before they were between 145 and 175. Good luck to you.

And happy new year to everyone and get this holiday food out of my house. I have cooked 4 big meals for it seems like hundreds and they refuse to take the sweets home. I must get back on track and look to you all for my support. Thanks so much to all. Dot

AMEN!!

Me, too!!

All the decorations are gone, all the goodies are gone and our DD & SIL are gone.

So, time to get back to NORMAL!!

We started the NEW YEAR right by going to the pool as usual at 9 a.m. I got the CD player out of the locker room assuming someone besides DH & I would show up on NEW YEARS DAY, and we ended up with 14 people! So, good to start out the first day of the new year with exercise!

Hi Phyllser,

Your new photo is wonderful. I wish I had your energy.

It is 38 degrees C = 100.4 F over here right now and even though I have the air con on I am still melting.

I really miss my swimming pool. Had it pulled out when Mum and Dad were moving in so that Dad could have a big shed put there. Many times during heat waves I would just walk straight in fully clothed and be in seventh heaven. It's strange reading about all the snow etc while I'm melting.

One good thing, I'm not hungry at all but thirsty? Oh yes!

Another frozen coke coming up.

Best wishes.

Katy - I want some of that heat you have. Windy, cold,32 F

But a frozen coke does sound good..

I am enjoying my Protein hot chocolate, mm and so soothing.

New Year and new dedication. I did lose 3# of the 5 I gained from Thanksgiving. Just got another fill..so that should also help.

Have to do a bit of shopping, my co-workes commented on how loose my clothes are and that made me self-conscious of my appearance. Why not show off the new figure. so off to find some sales..

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all Be healthy and safe

What kind of hot chocolate Protein Drink do you have? Is that what you usually have for Breakfast and do you try to stick to a low carb diet? Just needing some suggestions to get my weight loss moving. I think that I didn't use my band as simply a tool but thought just reducing my intack would make me lose but it hasn't -- just at first. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

No darling imho you gotta change your eating habits - you gotta learn to eat healthy.. I allow carbs but not alot - I really eat balanced - protien 1st - veggies & a little carbs/starched - but not tons - I eat mostly sugar free and exercise.. That imho is the secert to losing the weight and keeping it off - it's about lifestyle change..

Tracking calories measure foods eating low fat - limited sugar/refined carbs - are all the things you have to do..

It's (our band) is only a tool - it doesn't make our food choices or exercise for us...

I know that so many people say I didn't get banded to go on another diet - well I am not on a diet - I eat healthy - i did weigh and measure and log my food as learning tools - the band isn't going to stop us from eating 1 cup of mashed potatoes loaded with butter 4 x a day - and if we continue to eat that way then the weight isn't going to come off.

I wish the sugar free stuff would not make me crave sugar too. As I said, my doctor and nutritionist both agree that our bodies don't know the difference between sweet and sugar free sweet. It keeps the taste for sweets in our brains. I am going to try to just have a sf popsicle late in the evening when it's almost time for bed.

If I have something sugar free right after dinner, then I am looking around for what else I can find even if it's sugar free. It makes me want to eat all evening long.

Denise...I did some SF products during the weight loss phase and did not notice that they made me crave more sweets. I used SF flavorings in my coffee every day also. Was never a big sweet eater b/4 banding. But, I have noticed that after indulging in sweets over the holidays...I now crave sweets more than ever. I have tried to just grab fruit but do allow one sweet thing a day. (Usually my Pure Protein Bar or a small chocolate kiss or something). It's almost like you have to cleanse your body of it and not have it in the house. Yep...the band does not take care of some of those cravings. Darn!!!

Denise - I want to eat all evening long no matter what I eat - I am not kidding you - food really is my drug - once I start I just don't want to quit - Daytime I can deal with it pretty much cuz I am at work and I don't have stuff to snack on at my desk - just my Breakfast and lunch - but at home - OMW I have to be very very dilgent in what I eat... popcorn is a slider - but a life saver for me - if it wasn't for those 100 c snack packs - I would be a goner - I had 2 sf dark choc puddings with walnuts last night ...

Yep - I want sugar more so now that I have indulged in those Xmas Cookies - but like you the sf stuff is good enought for me... Can't do the kisses - cuz I would keep going back - one or 2 wouldn't be enough....

SF does help, but there are times it just won't cut it. Have to have the real thing. As much as I try there are times that cravings win out. Werther's makes a chocolate candy that is great, and a few seem to do the trick for me and they are not too bad as calories go either. Give them a try..

I have stocked my treat jar at work with only SF hard candy. 1 or 2 and I am fine.. But the chocolate pure Protein Bars, Zone perfect bars and the like sure do help a chocohalic like me!!! :tongue2: and I can get in some Protein with about 200 calories and anywhere from 10-18 gms of protein.

I have even started to add unflavored Unjury to my morning coffee..

My recent fill on 12/30 was 1 cc, which surprised me, I figured about 0.5cc would be all. Handling it well..MAkes me eat much slower than I have recently and that is a super plus!! Still have to work on the choices. but everyday is a new day and I find new things I enjoy.

Joining the gym is a PLUS.. It does not seem like a chore to go. I change at work and stop on my way home..they monitor heart rate and BP, a big plus also

Yes, I agree.. Janet is so very helpful, and truthful in the kindest way, but she sure knows what she is talking about, look how well she has done.. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
