mnorman 0 Posted December 23, 2008 Hello everyone! I was banded on the 19th and have not had any problems, other than a pocket of gas in my left shoulder that will NOT go away!! I am on full liquids now, and am doing ok, no real hunger but I am having food cravings....I would give a Kings ransom for some garlic toast! Is that bizarre or what!! Is this common? How long do these last? I also have question about feeling full...do you actually have a full feeling, or just don't feel hungry? I am not hungry, but don't really have the full feeling we are all used to. I thought I was up to shopping yesterday....WRONG!! I made it to the first store, made my purchase, and came home. I guess I will send my hubby to purchase gift cards today! I really thought I knew what to expect after surgery, but it seems that there is a new question with every day. Even with that, I think this is the best thing I have done for myself in years!! Merry Christmas everyone!! Mary
Great2BThin 5 Posted December 23, 2008 Congrats on your band, Mary. As for craving garlic toast, not sure how normal that is. I had no cravings but what's normal for one person may not be for another. I was very lucky, no gas pains, and was up and about to pretty much normal in a couple days. AS for the full feeling, I find my 'full' feels different now than it did prebanding. You will have to get used to what your body's signals are. I get a full/tight feeling in my upper stomach or chest area. I've read that some get a feeling in their back. I also start burping a lot. Sometimes I have that 'full feeling' but my head doesn't and I still want to eat. When I listen to my head and not my stomach, that's when I get myself into trouble. I find that especially hard this time of year when there are so many tempting goodies out there that you don't see the rest of the year. I find myself with the mentality of, 'if I don't have it now, it will be gone til next year'. DUH!! Last night it was crab legs. They were so good, rarely have them and I ate one too many and felt it for quite some time after dinner. Now why couldn't I cook crab legs another time of year? Stupid head, keeps trying to trip me up!
lynnt1215 1 Posted December 23, 2008 Cravings & feeling full - I still have my usual craving, but nothing oput of the ordinary, just know that if I eat some of those things I will suffer. I feel ful different, located in the upper stomach/chest area. and if I have eaten a bit too much I begin to burp..and feel lousy.. FYI - papaya enzyme tablets seem to help a bit when you "over eat" just chew a few and it seems to help relive the fullness/discomfort and help digest what is in the pouch a bit quicker to relieve the pain. Sleeved12/29 2 Posted December 23, 2008 Hockeyson - my thoughts and prayers for the whole family. We realize how precious our 4 legged friends are everyday and knowing they are hurting just makes us sad. I hope your baby is comfortable and makes it through one more holiday season with her family.Best we=ishes.. Lynn, thank you for the kind words. My hubby called the holistic vet this morning. He feels she is having seizures...he just saw her last week. Hubby picked up drops to give her to help with the seizures. We've decided to stay home over the long weekend. Just go to 8pm service tomorrow evening and spend the rest of the time with her. We're going to blow up beds in the family room and sleep with her.

I couldn't even make my son a salad...hubby had to make it. I had the salmon on Saturday and finally had a very small taste of salad last nite. I would also like strawberries but wil wait on those. peaches9 3 Posted December 23, 2008 I think it is quite common to have Cravings until you have better restriction (in 3-4 fills) until then, be strong... it does get easier. Oh and Garlic toast, um well it will probably get stuck. I can't eat bread, crackers sometimes, pringles - fine.... even Pasta will give me trouble, but I can eat rice... Go figure?? For each of us it may be a bit differnt. Good luck to you and your Band!

Hockeyson - Hugs - I have 3 fur babies (2 dogs 1 kitten) so I totally understand.. Hoep the drops give her comfort.. I'm with you in the cravings dept. I craved cesear salad and grilled salmon. I couldn't even make my son a salad...hubby had to make it. I had the salmon on Saturday and finally had a very small taste of salad last nite. I would also like strawberries but wil wait on those. Why can't you eat salad or strawberris if you are on regular food? ? I eat all foods - just smaller portions - make sure you eat slowly, tiny bite and chew well... The only thing I have had a problem with this last 2 weeks is carrots - they are soft - but I haven't chewed well and eating too fast - both times they came back up... blklab70 1 Posted December 24, 2008 You all are such awesome support in each others lives. I just love that! So, please allow me to share my yesterday. I saw my doctor for the first time. Dr Wetter is wonderful! I can not tell you how comfortable I am with him and how he listened to everything I had to say. Hubby went with me and we were both so impressed with Dr Wetter. I now have to get blood work and EKG and return visit with Dr on 21 Jan. You have all helped me make this decision with your kind words and true support. What super new friends I have and I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas. You will all be in my heart with your personal problems and personal victories. I know for me I can not do this alone and I appreciate all your kind words. I look forward to a long relationship with you all and the new ones that are yet to know you. Thanks! Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted December 24, 2008 I have cravings all the time. Unfortunately, it's anything that has chocolate in it. Head hunger is much harder to battle than stomach growling hunger!
