<5 hours to go...

Recommended Posts

Surgery is at high noon. The hospital is about 100 miles away so DW and I will be leaving about nine. They want me there at 11, plan to do surgery at noon and they said I should be on my way home by 2 PM. Hope it all comes off that smoothly!

I slept pretty well last night and am not nervous at this point. It's odd. I started this process almost seven months ago and thought it would never get here. The pre-op diet and bowel prep. are behind me (glad for that) and I'm eager to move to the next phase. I'm also anxious to find out if I've lost any weight over the last 10 days! I exceed the capacity of my home scale (another humbling experience) so I only weigh at the doctor's office at this point.

Well, sorry to ramble. Lots of us getting banded this week. Keep those prayers going! I trust things will go well for everyone. :)

Jim

Hope everything went well today! I'm sure you lost weight during the pre-op because you seemed so compliant with it! Looking forward to hearing how you're doing!

I'm getting banded next Monday (1-14-08) i'm a nervous wreck! I am so afraid I'm almost ready to back out. It's getting worse day by day, I figure by Sunday i'll need to check in to a mental institute.

Good luck! Sounds like the plan a quick turnaround. I bet you'll be happy to be able to recuperate in your own bed!

Good luck!

Nine, I'm being banded the day after you. I'm also nervous, but more nervous about what will happen if I don't do it.

It will be worth it, I promise.

Thanks to all of you! I am home and feeling very good. Just woke up from a nap as a matter of fact. It was quite an interesting day. Got pretty nervous at the last minute. I need to do a couple of things right now and then will write with more details. I am very pleased at this point and glad I did this. You will be too!

Oh yes-- found out I Lost 17 pounds pre-op so that made for a good start.

Thanks again,

Jim

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
