Oh Juli! i just saw your response...

My birthday is April 23.

Not sure how i feel about turning 40. Ive seen 40 yr olds that are jaw dropping knockouts, but im starting to have age related "signs" that im so totally not okay with. I mean, i didnt sign an approval form for the lines under my eyes! and whats going on with the 'girls'? they became...tired? so they just laid down and took a nap?

on the other hand, i would say that ive got a LOT less anxiety than i did at half this age.

How about you? any thoughts about turning the big 40?

Hi --

I am Cynthia, 35, and scheduled to be banded on 1/31. I'm single, no kids, but do have a dog, Charley. I'm eager, excited, and just a bit terrified.

I decided to take this step now because I realized it will not get any easier as I get older. I've also watched older friends and family struggle with the long term impact of obesity, and quite frankly, don't want to have that happen to me.

Cheers!

Cynthia

He he Shandra, I have already warned my boss that I might be grumpy when I come back to work!

Only a few people know that I'm having my surgery. I haven't told anyone at work, and just a few people know. Not even my family. They won't see me for a while, until after I get back on solid foods.

Where I work, I MUST be Mary Sunshine, being "the face of the IT dept" (at a position that gets very little respect!). So I will have to muster through my two week liquid diet.

Shandra

Hello to all!!!!

I am 31 and tomorrow is my birthday. I was banded on Dec. 26, 2007. So far I am doing great! I'm not exactly sure how much weight I have lost. I didn't want to know. The Doc. said I was doing good. I left it at that. I can't wait to talk with some of you.

Best wishes to you and yours!

Hi BigBaby,

i had a leak in my band. My surgeon does my fills, and on the third fill (may 23) when he tested me with drinking Water, i could get a great deal of water in. So much i had to go pee, but still felt no restriction. He immediately tested me and found a bad leak in the top of the band. He got me into surgery the next day and rebanded me with a new AP band, and by two or three fills after that i found my 'sweet spot' and started losing faster. Im doing well so far. Im about halfway to there.

Hey Everyone,

I am 32 and I am getting my lapband on Jan 21st. I am in the preop stage right now. So far I have lost 8.5 lbs. in 7days. I am so happy about that! I am getting nervous or anxious. I can't really tell the difference. I just want to do everything correctly.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
