Hey guys,

I am 30 and from Louisville, KY. I was banded on 12-11-07. I have lost about 17 lbs so far and am looking forward to my first fill this Thursday! I am so excited to have this band! I worked on the insurance approval for about a year. I am looking forward to having the support of this message bord behind me as I slim down, for good! I am hoping that this summer I will be able to go to the pool instead of wishing I could and doing things I havent done in ages due to my weight. Great to be on here with you guys!!

Alicia:tongue:

Hi all...I just turned 34 in December. So far I think my 30's are better than my 20's because I'm getting my life back.

This thread should be interesting. Any other 30-Somethings out there who are not married yet?? Or, am I the ONLY one who isn't and still has no kids???? Errrr.

No! I am single, no kids. I often feel the same way though...all my friends are either married or in serious long term relationships except one and he's gay so we are a couple by default a lot of the time.

Well, I am married now, just past the three year mark this month and I will be 38 on Tuesday (he is 34 by the way - so don't rule out a younger man.) No kids with no plans for them. We love being the crazy aunt and uncle.

I met my husband when I was 32 and totally thought I was Bridget Jones - well except for the whole drinking and smoking thing. We married 2 weeks before I turned 35.

No disrespect to anyone who married their high school sweetheart or just married younger, but I am SOOOO happy I married in my 30's. For both of us, this was the way to go. We both admit that if either of us had married earlier, or for that matter met each other earlier in life, we would never have been as happy as we are now.

I'm single, with furkids :(, who I love w/ all my heart!! I'd at least like to date after I lose this weight. (What does that say about my personality??? :girl_hug:) One day I'd like to get married, and I feel that I'll have a better chance of that when I weigh less.

My turn I reckon.

39 until July, I'm a guy, divorced and no kids. Near goal, but I might lower it once I get there. 40 is going to be a good year for me.

I know what you mean, Texgirly...my hubby and I are both on marriage #2. We have agreed that our firsts were our "practice marriages". We know ourselves so much better now than in our twenties, and have more to offer one another as partners.

I think it's WONDERFUL when people do find someone so young and have a long and happy marriage together. I just don't think it ever could have been me. I'm just such a different person than I was even 10 years ago, much less when I was in high school.

Good luck on getting your approval for surgery!

I was excited but nervous. Then, at 2am following my surgery, I was wondering what the hell I had done to myself and that it is forever. Luckily, that has passed for now and see it as a positive. Tomorrow will be better.

Jen

How are you feeling, greeneyez? It's been almost a week...doing okay with liquids? Things should be looking up about now, less pain, less soreness...although the post op diet is no walk in the park. Hope you and all others who just had surgery are doing well!

That's awesome! Almost at goal in 8 months...congrats!!

I think it will take me another year to get there, just because I just started anesthesia school. I'm not in a hurry. I feel so much better now, I can take my time with the last bit.

anyway...congrats, and welcome!

hi everyone!

i'm 33 - which feels weird since i spent most of last year thinking i was already 33.

I feel like I'm in this crisis since I dont know what I want to be when I grow up - and feel by now I should be in the thick of whatever I am supposed to be.

I know this stress has really stiffled my weightloss.

Anyone else feel this way?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
