LouLouBell 0 Posted December 11, 2009 I am doing a happy dance! I think this fill is effective! The only problem is that I am feeling absolutely no hunger and I have no appetite, - I don't even feel like eating at all, - nothing appeals to me because I am full already!
Fanny Adams 7 Posted December 11, 2009 That's not a problem, Loulou!! That's the name of the game! My surgeon says to take full advantage of those times - if you don't feel hungry, DON'T EAT!! It rarely lasts very long that you don't want to eat at all and the reality is that most of us could safely live for days at a time without food - that's what our fat reserves are for! So if you don't feel like Breakfast, don't force yourself to eat it just because you think you "should". Wait until you are hungry and then make the good choices. Stop eating when you are no longer hungry - don't wait for the "full" feeling, as it feels different now and you probably won't get there. Just try not to eat unless you are actually physically hungry and the weight loss will come easily... Good luck with it all!
LouLouBell 0 Posted December 11, 2009 That's sounds like great advice Fanny! Thanks! My dietician tells me to eat every 3 hours but if weight loss really is about energy in and energy out then what you are saying makes sense. I do have a question, - if I am eating a meal and I feel full but know I haven't eaten much, should I wait a while and try to eat a little more or just leave it? Thanks. Fanny Adams 7 Posted December 11, 2009 My surgeon says (and I agree) that any time you feel like pushing the plate away, do it. Never force yourself to finish something just because you think you should. You can always put stuff in the fridge and come back to it later, if you have a real problem with throwing food away, but that's a habit we need to break too, in the long run. I have found it SO hard to learn to throw food away. I was raised to "clean my plate" and save all leftovers in the fridge and make sure nothing was ever wasted. I've had to really work hard at changing that mindset and throwing food into the bin, so that I don't eat it an hour later when I don't really want it but am not so full that I can't eat it... I would feel so guilty about it, too, but I'm gradually learning to put less on my plate so that I don't have the leftovers any more.
Beck Is Bustin It 0 Posted May 14, 2010 Hi there, I am fairly new to the forum and didnt realise there was an Australian part of the site which is fantastic. I even put my weight down in pounds as I didnt think there were many of us on here. Anyway, I have been reading some threads and really happy that there are people that have had the same doctor etc.

mrsjotaylor 0 Posted June 1, 2010 Hi guys I need some expert advice from you Perth people! I live in Ireland but will be moving to Perth at the end of June and need some advice about which surgeon to use from here on out for my fills. I was banded in January in Belgium and am on my third fill which I get done in Dublin. I am not sure where in Perth I will be living but I am happy to travel for a good consultant. Also how much can I expect to pay for fills? In Ireland it's entirely self-paying, so free fills are never part of my aftercare. Any advice you can give me would be much appreciated! Just-BandedEm 0 Posted June 1, 2010 Heya Another Perth lap-band patient here... I'm 2 weeks post-op. I need someone to tell me that this will get better! All I want to do is eat and its taking all my strength to stay away from the fridge. I have constant under-shoulder blade/chest pain and its really getting to me! How long until any of you felt vaguely human again? My surgeon was Kevin Dolan at Joondalup Hospital. Cheers...
nikki_w 0 Posted June 1, 2010 Oh wow 2 weeks and u still not feeling better? Is it that ur not recovering well after the surgery or jus that ur really hungry? Coz u prob should double check with Dr Dolan if ur having pain after so long?? I dont know what u could do about the hunger... maybe try eating many small meals thru the day so ur not starving all the time?? Make a Soup and snack on that or maybe some benefiber might help to fill u up longer... can u eat that kind of food?
Angela72 0 Posted June 6, 2010 I had Dr Dolan and he"s fantastic!...still with shoulder pain? may still be swallowing to much air....gas is terrible...I have lost 34 kg and my "bandiversary is June 16th"....i feel great, normal,, can buy clothes in normal shops....no more fat girl shops! woohoo! For the girl moving out here from dublin...Dr Dolan at Joondalup hospital will be best as you will probably live out this way....dont mean that to sound weird but most british people live out this way when they move here.... Beck Is Bustin It 0 Posted June 7, 2010 Hey Just BandedEm, I had the pain you are talking about two weeks after surgery as well. I ended up going back to the doctor who took some of the saline out. (as you may already know there is some already in the band when it first goes in). Almost instand relief. Doctor said to me that the pain should be gone within about 7 - 9 days. Now I had my first fill 3 weeks ago and have had that same pain back again for that time, so maybe I am one of those people that need to have a little at a time, cause I am over feeling like this. I'm sure it takes time to get to the right level so I am crossing my fingers all we be sorted at my next appointment on Friday.
