My first fill yesterday

Recommended Posts

I have the 4cc band and recieved a 1.5cc fill. He put in 2cc but backed off when he could see it didn't go through well enough.

He told me to do liquids for a couple of days. I ate 3/4 cup cream Soup and feel stuffed. Is this how it feels if it is right. I am a little afraid that I won't be able to eat real food.< /p>

Could you please share your story with me. Does this initial restriction go away at all or get worse? How much should I be able to eat at a meal or drink?

I drooled over my husbands sub but knew if I tried to take a bit I would barf. LOL

Alice, sounds like you have good restriction (which is the purpose of the band). Are you able to drink fluids easily? Please follow your surgeon's post-fill directions. If he says fluids, then please do them as long as he says. Once you start eating real foods again, see how you do. The bread in that Sub sandwich will probably be hard for you to eat and not the best bandster food choice. Hard Proteins (lean, moist meats) and veggies are the best and help you feel full longer.

I can drink fluids ok. I get little burps, but no problems. Will the restriction get looser?

How much do you eat at meals. Can you give me a sample?

I don't weigh or measure my food. But I do eat on a salad plate at home. That seems to help me keep my portions small. Have you tried using www.fitday.com? It's free and you can log in your foods, exercise, etc. and it helps give you a good idea of how your food choices are affecting you.

I had my first fill today - congrats to us!!!! LOL

My doc told me that I will probably be more restricted the first two weeks and then less so after that. I was warned to be especially careful now... making extra sure to follow the banster rules.

I have also heard (not from my doc but from these boards) that it takes two weeks for the fill to "kick in".

The most important thing, I think, is to listen to YOUR body and what it tells you - watch for the full sign and listen, don't try to get a little more in (I say this in theory since I at the same spot as you).

Good luck and congrats!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
