CandiOPanda 0 Posted January 6, 2008 I'm 10 days post op and still experiencing a lot of abdominal pain around the largest incision area which I take to be my port site? (am I wrong in that assumption?) Is this normal? I'm trying not to take my pain meds as I didn't need them for several days but now feel as though I've suffered kick to the stomach from a large animal. LOL someone pleeeease put my mind at ease....:help:
allheart 0 Posted January 6, 2008 I am 2 weeks post-op also and still have some pain in my abdomen on the left -about 1 inch below my belly button - my largest incision is about 2 inches above my belly button. I figured it is part of the healing process so I haven't been that concerned. I'm not sure what they did down there but I have pain and even a slight burning whenever I reach/stretch on the left. I see my surgeon on 1/10 for my follow-up. Everyone is so different. I would say if you are really concerned, call your doctor to touch base.
shoegirlia 0 Posted January 6, 2008 I had more annoyance, not major, level pain for a couple days once I took off my steri strips on day 13. It went away though now and only it bothered when it gets bumped. If it is really bothering you, I would call your doc. I have read about people's port sites getting flipped or infected- Neither of which is a good!!
Ceradad 10 Posted January 6, 2008 I'm 4 mos after my surgery and I still have days where the port area is a little painful. I was told at my first post op visit this is normal. With the port being attached to your muscles, it makes alot of difference. If it is too painful, I would suggest calling your surgeon and making sure. No sense in trying to gut it out (no pun intended) if there is a problem.
Chrisann 0 Posted January 6, 2008 Everytime I turn over in bed, I feel like the fat goes first and then the muscle or port whatever that incision is on my right side goes a second later and hurts alot. I am 6 days post op, and that is the only time I am feeling the pain. Otherwise, the other incisions are feeling fine.
CandiOPanda 0 Posted January 6, 2008 I see my surgeon for a follow-up on 1/11. I'll have so many questions for her I'll have to wheel in the list with a wheelbarrow!

So relieved to know that someone else is feeling that sort of discomfort when they turn over in bed. I keep telling myself this all will pass, only it seems so slow... LOL someone pleeeease put my mind at ease....:help: I remember feeling as if my stomach gotten hit by a bus. My theory is if you are in pain- take a little bit of pain meds. That is what they are for. If you are worried call your doctor tomorrow. Don't worry it will get better, but for some of us it does take some time. I didn't feel better for about three weeks or so. I did a lot of walking, and that did seem to help. Good luck.
