Recommended Posts

Is anyone else having surgery tomorrow? I'm scheduled for 9:30 at GW Hospital in Washington, DC. I'm excited and a little scared. Good luck to all the January Bandsters!!!!:bounce:

Yep, I'm up tomorrow as well. I am a little nervous, but looking forward to getting through it to the other side. I have my bowel prep. to enjoy this afternoon. Surgery is at noon tomorrow and I can't have anything to eat or drink after midnight, so I'll probably be more hungry than I am now! Looking forward to seeing if I've lost any weight during pre-op. Feel like I ought to be half-way to goal!

Hang in there and let me know how it goes for you.

Jim

Wow - I didn't have to do the bowel prep. Did you fast for the last two weeks? I've had nothing but Opti Fast Protein Shakes and bars. Good Luck Tomorrow!!!!!:whoo:

I'm scheduled for tomorrow morning as well. I have actually become quite nervous in the last couple days. Like Jim, I am very ready to be on the other side and just get started. I didn't have to do a bowel prep either. Yikes, no fun. My pre-op diet seems to have gone pretty well. This is day 10 and according to my scale I am down 9 pounds. We'll see what the hospital scale says tomorrow, but I'm feeling great! Good luck to both of you and anyone else being banded tomorrow!

I'm scheduled for tommorrow also (12:00 PM), I had a bowel prep....Its not terrible, but its not great either. I just had to do a low cab diet though for the last 2 weeks, so I'm not complaining.

Good luck guys, I have mine next week. I'm getting a little nervous, but I guess I am more nervous of what will happen if I DON'T get it.

Keep us posted on your recovery and results,

Jen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
